The 2006 Extreme Pacific Street Car Nationals at AAA Auto Club Dragway at Calif. Speedway beat the scorching Fontana Ca. heat and when the finals were over there were a lot of the same racers in the winner’s circle along with a few new faces proving they are the teams to beat this year on the PSCA tour. Car count was down at this event so the gas prices are starting to hurt how many racers are coming out to race not just here on the PSCA but all of drag racing events. There were plenty of fans who came out this weekend to watch some great side by side racing. As always the Dave & Kathy Danish track crew along with Mel and his hard working staff put together a well run event as the racing was finished each day by 5.30 each day.
During Fridays test and tune a local couple Jay and Shelly Payne had there blown
Brad Anderson powered pro mod Dodge Stratus Valvoline stars and stripes out to test a new combination out they had a lot of tire shake both made a few runs but both never really got a hold of track surface and come Saturday morning they had all ready packed up and gone home. Also out testing this weekend was Jim Holtz in Marc Roy’s Predator
Plymouth Satellite and Lil Nate Chevrolet Monza both made a couple of runs on Saturday and one pass together Nate Bugg would take the win light in this side by side run.
Hughes Performance Pro Street action Steve Paulauskis from Peoria AZ. made his fourth
Final round of the year and third win of the season defeating Clint Hairston twin turbo 71 Camaro. Steve would take the win light with a 6.646 e.t. over Clint who got his Camaro
Sideways at the 1000 foot mark and did a great driving job to save his car from hitting the concrete k walls. Steve would also set low e.t. and number one qualifier with a 6.512 e.t. But Clint would set top speed at 214.86 MPH.
Tom’s Differentials Outlaw street would come down to the Hill Billy Twin Turbo 68 Camaro and Rich Zehring who would be number one Q 7.197 e.t. and top speed 193.57 mph Rich would prove to be to tough for the Hill Billy driven by Rick Snavely as Zehring take the win light with a 7.287 e.t. to Rick’s losing early shut off 8.147 e.t. at 145 mph.
The Borla Xtreme Street action Assad Zeinaty in his 91 Chevrolet Camaro would be number one Q 7.63 e.t. and top speed 190.22 mph would defeat Roger Rydell in the Mikes Transmission blown 1967 Chevy Chevelle would break on the burn out in the final.
Edelbrock NOS systems real street Matt Schmidt would take the win over Rich Hoyle
Matt in his 66 Chevy Nova would take a close win over Rich’s 63 Chevy Nova 8.265 e.t.
At 176.01 mph over Hoyles 8.283 e.t. 166 mph
Edelbrock Hot Street Carl Gustafson 8.914 e.t. would defeat his brother Craig who trailed with a 9.116 e.t..
In Calvert True Street Action Lonnie Patrick in former NHRA car owner John Fields
Racing 1980 Chevy Malibu took the win as Manuel Figeroa’s 1990 Ford Mustang
In the final Lonnie would lead wire to wire with a 8.416 e.t. at 172.36 mph over Figeroa’s losing 8.998 e.t.
Deeds Performance Limited Street Multi time winner Mike Saiki of Long Beach Ca. in his bright red Corvette 9.113 e.t. defeated Gary Brandt 9.266 e.t. in his bright green flamed Ford Mustang.
Mickey Thompson Tires Wild Street action Don Berstler from Phoenix AZ. In his 1973 Z 28 Camaro would defeat Kevin Wallafer
J E Pistons Quick Street Wes Anderson who got to drive his Dads 1965 Corvette this weekend as his dad hurt his leg up at the Col. River the weekend before Wes who crew chiefs the car had dad tuning this weekend. Wes would be number one Qualifier 9.61 e.t. and in the final Wes ran low e.t. of the event with a 9.576 e.t. at 141.27 mph to Don Langly’s who trailed in his blown 1967 Camaro out of Las Vegas trailed with a 9.795 e.t. at 140 mph
Jeff Jacobson’s Billet Fabrication Bracket one would come down to Doug Crumlich who has been in the winners circle A lot this season at AAA Dragway at Ca.Speedway Doug who took his 1996 Chevrolet Corvette from Irvine Ca. defeated Marc Bochtold from Corona Ca.
Trophy John Child would win his first race ever over Doug Ewey from Alta Loma Ca.
CRT 10.60 Index Mark Rapp from Huntington Beach Ca. would defeat Leo Massey from Gilbert Az. for the win.
Online Bros. Open Comp local racer Mike Nordahl from Fontana Ca. in his 1975 Chevrolet Vega would take the win light over Mike Martranga from Lakewood Ca.driving a 1965 Chevy
The Pacific Street Car Assn. has three races left the next one will be at LVMS the Strip
On Sept 1st thru the 3rd then the last two will be at AAA Dragway at Ca. Speedway
Oct 6th 7th and 8th and again on Nov 3rd thru the 5th which will be the last points race for PSCA. There is one more event but there are no points given out at the Nov 16th 17th 18th
