What was started 17 years ago as a get together of old racing friends, ex racers and a Nostalgia drag race has come along way in such a short time. the reunion is more then just a race it is about old friends on the most part they get together to relive the past of NHRA IHRA AHRA Match racing of past in drag racing. this year also marked the first year of the NHRA Heritage Series for Nostalgia drag racing. too some of the racers the purse is not big enough but on the overall of all the classes not just one class you need to look at the big picture this series has given every class a place to race for championship. is more needed yes as always the prize money needs to be increased across the board and hopefully it will in the future of nostalgia racing. I hope it gets better and that their is no more fighting between the AA/FC racers. with the economy in the slump. will it happen next year? Will it be bigger and better I along with myself James Drew, Tim Marshall and Roger Rohdanz sure hope so in 33 years from now when the NHRA CHRR hit's 50 year mark will we be having a different style of nostalgia drag racing will they still be racing front engine dragster's in the nostalgia series. Hmm who knows this year we had the first rear engined dragster of T V Tommy Ivo's beautiful dragster restored by past NHRA AA/FC Champion Bruce Larson who did a fantastic job in rebuilding the car that was destroyed at Pomona Winternationals back in the 1970's.
I myself had a great time this year and want to thank those who stopped by to visit with all the racers from past years who I read about in the pages of Hot Rod Car Craft Popular Hot Rodding Drag Racing U S A and Super Stock D I. I got to see one of my hero's in drag racing photographer Steve Reyes who has taken some of the greatest pictures ever in drag racing history I get to work with one of the best ever week in and week out Tim Marshall. I hope one day that my work even compares to two of drag racing masters.


2008 NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion & NHRA Heritage Series Finals. Great Race and Fun Times had by all those who came to this years Reunion.
Wow what a great event every year the reunion seems to get get bigger each year and this year being the first ever pro champions in the NHRA Heritage Series Crowned. in Top Fuel Troy Green and High Speed top fuel team were very thankful champions as they said this woud have been Brad Thompson's year but when Brad had his crash at the Boise race it left the championship open and the high speed team claimed the very 1st Top Fuel Championship in Heritage Series History. Brad Thompson along with his team and his Sponsor Larry Bless were on hand all weekend and Brad even backed Troy up in the first round of top fuel. Brad say's he will be back as soon as he gets cleared from his doctors, he tried getting his doctor to sign a release form but the doctor told him , I want to know what kind of drugs he was on their was no way he would sign the release form even turning down Brad's offer of Cash and other things!

in AA Funny Car Bucky Austin and Steve Plueger proved they are the team to beat and in the final Krabill in Gary Tuner's Peddler Arrow left on Austin but was just not enough as Bucky drove around him, Cory Lee had Turner's ride hoped up but just not quite enough as Steve Plueger proved his two cars are the baddest nitro nostalgia funny cars in the land. Chuck Moore and Steve Woods claimed there the first AA/Gas Championship with their bad ass blown hemi 63 corvette.
AA/Gas Winner came down to Jirka Kaplin defeated Mike Leonard in the Kaplin ran a 6.624 e.t at 207.18 mph to Leonards trailing 6.727 e.t at 203.98 mph. Jirka set Top Speed and Low E.T. 6.390 e.t.and top speed at 216.50 mph
A/Fuel Dr Kin Bates low e.t with his Flying Fortress injected nitro hemi and won the race and championship over Bill Wayne who did what he had to as a driver and had giant hole shot but the Fortress just had to much power to beat Wayne's Lucas Oil Blown Alky dragster.
Jr. Fuel A was dominated by the Father and Son team out of Kansas as Scott P{arks was again Claiming another Championship be it this year in the NHRA Heritage Series to add to his Good Guys Championships over NHRA Lucas Oil Series racer J D Zink in the final at NHRA CHRR Scott set Low E.T. 6.838 e.t top speed 194.72 mph set low e.t. each round and top speed of the event.

A/Gas Jimmy White in his Candy Apple red Chevy Corvette he defeated Chris Beanes in his Henry J to the Runner up Spot. Augustine Herrera in his 67 Camaro was # 1 Q 7.601 e.t. . White used a Hole Shot to beat Beanes running a 7.731 e.t. at 151.18 mph to defeat Chris's quicker 7.712 e.t. at 165.10 mph in the 7.60 index class of A/Gas

A/FX Factory Super Stockers came down to ageless Phil Featherston in his 64 Ford Thunderbolt out of Stockton Ca. powered by Panella Horse Power defeated Steve Whitemore in his 67 Ford Mustang.

Leah Pruett won the AAFC Consolation final over Terry Capp running her best nostalgia funny car pass 5.832 e.t. at 239.17 mph
Terry Capp was a no Show in the Bubble Up Firebird, as Leah in Steve Plueger's other Nitro Funny Car.
Tom TK Krupa won AA/Gas B show in the Atlas Broadband 67 Camaro on a single as Gary Reinero broke in his # 1 Q Austn in the final and could not start.

friends on the most part they get together to relive the past of NHRA IHRA AHRA Match racing of past in drag racing. this year also marked the first year of the NHRA Heritage Series for Nostalgia drag racing. too some of the racers the purse is not big enough but on the overall of all the classes not just one class you need to look at the big picture this series has given every class a place to race for championship. is more needed yes as always the prize money needs to be increased across the board and hopefully it will in the future of nostalgia racing. I hope it gets better and that their is no more fighting between the AA/FC racers. with the economy in the slump. will it happen next year? Will it be bigger and better I along with myself James Drew, Tim Marshall and Roger Rohdanz sure hope so in 33 years from now when the NHRA CHRR hit's 50 year mark will we be having a different style of nostalgia drag racing will they still be racing front engine dragster's in the nostalgia series. Hmm who knows this year we had the first rear engined dragster of T V Tommy Ivo's beautiful dragster restored by past NHRA AA/FC Champion Bruce Larson who did a fantastic job in rebuilding the car that was destroyed at Pomona Winternationals back in the 1970's.
I myself had a great time this year and want to thank those who stopped by to visit with all the racers from past years who I read about in the pages of Hot Rod Car Craft Popular Hot Rodding Drag Racing U S A and Super Stock D I. I got to see one of my hero's in drag racing photographer Steve Reyes who has taken some of the greatest pictures ever in drag racing history I get to work with one of the best ever week in and week out Tim Marshall. I hope one day that my work even compares to two of drag racing masters.


2008 NHRA California Hot Rod Reunion & NHRA Heritage Series Finals. Great Race and Fun Times had by all those who came to this years Reunion.
Wow what a great event every year the reunion seems to get get bigger each year and this year being the first ever pro champions in the NHRA Heritage Series Crowned. in Top Fuel Troy Green and High Speed top fuel team were very thankful champions as they said this woud have been Brad Thompson's year but when Brad had his crash at the Boise race it left the championship open and the high speed team claimed the very 1st Top Fuel Championship in Heritage Series History. Brad Thompson along with his team and his Sponsor Larry Bless were on hand all weekend and Brad even backed Troy up in the first round of top fuel. Brad say's he will be back as soon as he gets cleared from his doctors, he tried getting his doctor to sign a release form but the doctor told him , I want to know what kind of drugs he was on their was no way he would sign the release form even turning down Brad's offer of Cash and other things!

in AA Funny Car Bucky Austin and Steve Plueger proved they are the team to beat and in the final Krabill in Gary Tuner's Peddler Arrow left on Austin but was just not enough as Bucky drove around him, Cory Lee had Turner's ride hoped up but just not quite enough as Steve Plueger proved his two cars are the baddest nitro nostalgia funny cars in the land. Chuck Moore and Steve Woods claimed there the first AA/Gas Championship with their bad ass blown hemi 63 corvette.
AA/Gas Winner came down to Jirka Kaplin defeated Mike Leonard in the Kaplin ran a 6.624 e.t at 207.18 mph to Leonards trailing 6.727 e.t at 203.98 mph. Jirka set Top Speed and Low E.T. 6.390 e.t.and top speed at 216.50 mph
A/Fuel Dr Kin Bates low e.t with his Flying Fortress injected nitro hemi and won the race and championship over Bill Wayne who did what he had to as a driver and had giant hole shot but the Fortress just had to much power to beat Wayne's Lucas Oil Blown Alky dragster.
Jr. Fuel A was dominated by the Father and Son team out of Kansas as Scott P{arks was again Claiming another Championship be it this year in the NHRA Heritage Series to add to his Good Guys Championships over NHRA Lucas Oil Series racer J D Zink in the final at NHRA CHRR Scott set Low E.T. 6.838 e.t top speed 194.72 mph set low e.t. each round and top speed of the event.
