PSCA California ”Heat” Nationals

Over 200 racers attended the latest PSCA race at Auto Club Dragway the track was in great shape as the crew at the track kept on top of starting line and made sure they kept the lanes even with the sun beating down on the track the Hughes performance pro street racers have figured out how to get down the track in these very hot conditions.
Randy Walker has had a few secret weapons in his arsenal, keeping his 79 Chevy El Camino flat black like a stealth fighter jet but Randy’s been getting some outside help one being pro mod veteran Charles Carpenter and Jerry Eckman has also been seen in his pits when the NHRA team he is working for had and off weekend Jerry was seen helping and getting his hands dirty. But Randy Qualified in the number one spot thirteen others would round out the field and on race day Randy would match up against Dedrickson would be a no show with his hemi powered Pontiac Firebird, regardless Randy laid down a 6.399 E.T. at 218.90 mph on his single. Tim Henry who runs Pat Musi power would be without Pat nor having pro stock Joe Lepone in his pits this weekend as both were over in Qatar making sure that their customers were getting the most out of the horsepower available and driving instructions from both legends and most likely helping with chassis adjustments too! So Tim and team would be working and calling all the shots and in the first round he sent Dan Myers blown Red Line Oil racing 58 Chevy Camino back to its box for the trip home as Henry would advance but be off his number two qualifying run taking the win light with a 6.98 e.t. at 212 mph to Myers 7.598 e.t. at a charging 204 mph for the loss! The next match up would pit Plastic Man Ed Thornton up against Marc GoodGuys Meadors in his supercharged 69 Camaro Z-28 Vs Thornton’s twin turbo set up they both left the line together and both got on and off the throttle as both cars shook the tires and Plastic Man took the win light driving away from the GoodGuys President Marc Meadors who trailed behind the Corvette running a 6.922 e.t. 212 mph to Thornton’s winning 6.691 e.t. 216 mph. So on paper this was looking like it would be a great battle two carbureted machines with NOS Juice going up against one another both being Chevrolets Randy had won the last race on the PSCA circuit and was getting help from Charles Carpenter and has been keeping the El Camino running consistent run after run but in the final Randy would use his driving talent to put a hole shot on Kelly Bluebaugh and Randy would need it as his Camino fell off his high 6.30 pace and take the win light with a 6.474 e.t. at 217.98 mph to the quicker Bluebaugh who ran his quickest and fastest run in the final round 6.461 e.t. at 220.33 mph only to lose to Randy Walker and his Stealth El Camino and his secret weapons in his trailer! Randy Walker has had a few secret weapons in his arsenal, keeping his 79 Chevy El Camino flat black like a stealth fighter jet but Randy’s been getting some outside help one being pro mod veteran Charles Carpenter and Jerry Eckman has also been seen in his pits when the NHRA team he is working for had and off weekend Jerry was seen helping and getting his hands dirty. But Randy Qualified in the number one spot thirteen others would round out the field and on race day Randy would match up against Dedrickson would be a no show with his hemi powered Pontiac Firebird, regardless Randy laid down a 6.399 E.T. at 218.90 mph on his single.
