Metro North

Various pictures of equipment and people of Metro North Railroad, mostly taken in the vicinity of the Danbury Railway Museum.

I would also like to welcome our first guest photographer in this album, Wayne Koch.

There cutting up old equipment at croton harmon cant anything be done to preserve the equipment as historic pieces and not just scrap metal.

    -----------------------------------------------

I know of no plans to scrap the remaining F10 units. Several of the FL-9s are being preserved at railroad museums in Connecticut. Two are at the Danbury Railway Museum.

    Leased Amtrak Gennie 2
Nice looking train - Amtrak is the company right?

    ---------------------------------------------

Amtrak owns the locomotive, which they have leased to the State of Connecticut for use by Metro North, the commuter railroad to New York City.

    MNRR Roadrailer 1
Nice truck Peirce, what do they use the little wheel for under the fender?

    -----------------------

These are known as "roadrailers" and are able to run on the rails, as well as, on the road. Metro North has them in all shapes and sizes, even some dump trucks. I saw them in use one day dropping new ballast.
