Thicker Locs - Combining Project

So for a while now I have been really feeling the thicker locs. Then finally I felt the urge to have thicker locs myself. I researched lots of info on np.com then decided to combine my locs by twisting them together then sewing the last inch or so with black thread. I am thrilled about the idea of having thick locs; but not so thrilled about combining them this late in the game. I'm hoping they will be happily married within a year, but who knows. I am still contemplating growing out enough new growth to cut my locs and start with a fresh set. Mainly bcuz I'm just not sure if they will ever marry since my locs are mature and also because they are all different sizes! Ah well, we shall see.

    OOh, how beautiful! Mine have combined at the root to three inches down but most have unraveled from that point to the ends. I have never thought of sewing them, hmm....

    funny thing about yellow - and orange & pink - is i used to avoid those colors like the plague bcuz of my dark skin, only to find out yrs later that those are the colors that look best on me

    thanks! since braiding them together, I feel confident that they will mesh together... or at least stay put long enough for the roots to get the hang of growing together

    Here you can clearly see the spots I missed with the dye.

    It's strange but you and I MUST have the same loc dreams cause each time I'm on Fotki or in real life and I see some one's thick lucious beautiful locs I wish I had started mine out to be thick. I always wanted mine to be between medium and small and I pretty much achieved that look. But I REALLY think that I desire thicker locs now. My boyfriends mom and his cousins all have these amazing looking thick long locs and I get soooo jealous when I 'm around them. Maybe when my babies reach a certain length I'll try your experiment. Good luck!!

    In the beginning, I was fine with thinner locs, but now something inside of me desires thicker locs. It's the same exact feeling I had the moment I knew it was time to loc, so I know it is the right decision for me. I don't have the pleasure of being in the company of ppl w/thick, beautiful locs so count your blessings! IMO, if you are going to combine ur locs, now is the best time since they haven't fully matured yet and there is less length that will have to loc. Keep me posted!

    bold and beautiful... some combine by threading one or two thru the roots of another!! whether manipulating to tree or allowing it to happen by not separating, it WILL take time!

    i actually forgot to mention that, so i'm glad u did! i started out by threading both locs on either side thru the root of the loc in the center. so they are all combined at the root : )
