A trip to the USAF Museum in Dayton, OH

Got to fly this beauty for about 20 minutes. My WORD, what an aircraft.

The Liberty Belle had been at MQY on June 10th, part of a 50 city Liberty Foundation tour for the aircraft.

While here, it experienced minor mechanical problems, and was forced to remain here at MQY until repairs could be completed. That work was done over the following 2 weeks, and today the FISDO had her up doing the final checkout, and giving some of the fine mechanics who worked on her a few rides.

I was lucky enough to catch her coming over the house on the second set of rides, and then scurried over to the airport, where the fine folks at Wings of Eagles (my flight school) were nice to enough to let me out on their ramp to shoot her on her taxi and eventual final departure from MQY.

There is, I can abolutely assure you, NOTHING in the world like being 200 feet away and hearing the sound of 4 Wright R-1820-97 "Cyclone" turbosupercharged radial engines spooling up for takeoff.

Decided to take a jaunt up to M54 for an $80 Coke, and snapped this fellow while doing a bit of hangar flying with some of the locals.

I'd guessed, based on the paint job, that this bird would wind up being registered in Texas, but as it turns out it's registered in Florida. My best guess is that it belongs to a retiree down there who hails from TX.

A Cessna 206H owned by Spectra Energy, used apparently for aerial patrol of natural gas lines and fields. Really not sure what he was doing at MQY.
