1979 Firebird Convertible

This project started with an incomplete Revell Firebird Formula ragtop kit that was missing the most important part - the twin-scooped Formula hood! At first I was going to get rid of it but after seeing a few of these built I decided to see what I could do with it. I grafted on a better detailed nose from a Lindberg Type K Sportwagon kit that included separate clear head light lenses. I then trimmed the hood and modified the shaker hood scoop to help them all work together. I added some grey embossing powder to the interior for carpeting and added trunk panel lines to the rear spoiler with a thin razor saw. The larger diameter snowflake wheels are resin pieces painted with magnesium metalizer and I modified the front and rear suspensions to be able to attach them. Paint is Tamiya Bright Red over black and I'm pretty happy with how the car turned out. Not too bad for a two week project!
