Virginia City, Nevada

Pics were taken in the Cemetary in Virginia City, Nevada, 2012. (no matter what I tried to do, I could not quite get the lighting right, every time I tried, either a 'new' cloud appeared, or the sun blared.... it was very strange, but a really cool, interesting experience. I hope you enjoy at least some of these pics....

This particular shot, it did not seem to matter what I did, this was the best focus I could manage, all other shots, just did not come out at all, very Strange.

If you have a UV or other type of protective filter on your lens, try an experiment.  Put the camera on the tripod, take a shot of whatever you happen to be looking at.  Then remove the filter and shoot it again without changing anything.  If the second shot is sharper, then you know you have a poor UV filter.  If the filter is a "cheapie" it's almost like looking through your glasses with Vaseline smeared on them.  Get the best quality UV filter you can afford or....do without it.

If you're having trouble "getting the light right," try taking your meter off "spot."  I'm guessing that you've metered the sky on this shot which underexposed the darker landscape.  Metering properly is imperative.

    B&W Version
love the feel from the B&W application.  Can I ask, did you shot it a bw or did you remove the color profile???  trying to learn and I love this.  The sky is the thing for me, the way the clouds are in layers, the bottom set looks like a pancake to me, LOL.  You hve to adore old grave yards, the only thing missing here is a crow sitting in the awsome dead tree, Ha Ha Ha.  Hope you have a wicked day, C

Scott, what ever you do, "DO NOT SIT IN THAT CHAIR!!"  This was very interesting about this table in Virginia City.

I do not plan on going to that bar any time soon.  There is a magazine that like weird ghost stories and picture like this in nj.  It called Weird NJ.  www.weirdnjcom  You have to check it out they could even print this picture and a story if your interested.

Do you mean my picture and the story of the "Suicide Table" ?  If so, I would be more than interested.  I will check that site out later, and let you know what I think.  I am always interested in things such as this.  Thanks for the heads up.

They would definatly publish it in an upcomming magazine if you sned the photo and story to it.  I've been interviewed for it a few years ago.  They publish 2 magazines a year on all the fun ghost stories and other weird happenings in NJ and other parts of the country.  They have 5 or 6 books about diffrent states and of course New Jersey.  It is deffinatly worth a shot.
