Jeez, it's New Year's Day and it's pouring rain. Six of us went hiking and biking in Palgrave. Thanks for the photos Liz!

Our annual ride was a bit chilly at -6 C, but the conditions were great for riding and hiking. We had a big turnout and we ate lunch at the Caledon Inn.

Thanks to everyone who helped with trail maintenance today - Joe, Gary, Steve, Andrew, Chris, Aaron and the Van Marens - John, Peter and Chantel.

It was a great day for our BBQ. It was sunny and the trails were dry. We gave away a bunch of prizes and ate chicken and corn for lunch.

It was 33 Celcius for our Wednesday Night Ride at Palgrave. It was weird.

Today we moved some of our Monday rides to Albion and we changed our meeting place to the water fountain.

During the 24 hour race they make a mud bog that is only open on Sunday from 10 am to 11 am.

This year we had 52 riders on 7 Caledon teams.
The conditions were great and the race course was the best ever. Two teams ended up on the podium.

The 24 hour race was one week away so a bunch of us rode the actual race course at night so we could test our lights and get used to the trail.

Our first ride of the season was delayed by one week due to the election. The school was being used as a polling station. It was a great night for a ride - dry and warm.

Sunny, warm and dry. A great day for our Spring BBQ.

We held our annual winter social at the Belfountain Inn. Good food. Good friends.

There was too much snow for riding so we went for a 2 hour hike in The Pines. It was depressing to see the huge area that they clear cut. After the hike we went to the Inn for lunch.

It was a nice day for a ride and we had chicken and sausage for lunch. We gave away 75 prizes including a NiteRider light system and some gift certificates to Belfountain Inn, Millcroft, Bluebird and One99.

We had about 75 riders show up and try to win some CCC gear including hats, water bottles and stickers.
We gave away some prizes and we had free freezies after the ride. Yay!!!!

The CCC had 53 riders on eight teams this year. Three of the teams ended up on the podium.

The 24 hour race course was set up one week before the big race at Albion Hills. That gave some of our riders a chance to test their bike lights and get experience riding the actual course. It was a nice night and unlike past years there were no injuries or major mechanicals. Kind of boring in that respect. We need more carnage!!!!

This was our first Monday night ride with about 100 people who rode to Erin, Belfountain, Inglewood and the Forks. Thanks for coming out. Keep it up.

We had a good turnout at Albion with lots of new members showing up. Rain was forecast but we just had a sprinkle and it turned to be a great ride.

It was a nice day - sunny and about 8 below. The snow was a little deep in some places, but eight of us rode to the Cataract and another 12 people went hiking in the Pines. Lunch followed at the Belfountain Inn.

We had to cancel the ride portion of this event due to wet conditions, but we still had a great party at Laurie's.

The International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) hosted the first-ever Ontario Mountain Bike Summit in Kitchener. Mountain bike clubs, leaders, advocates, and decision makers attended three days of networking, trailbuilding, problem solving, education, advocacy and inspiration. Auni and John both came to the Wednesday ride with brand new bikes. Their odometers showed zero and they still had those little rubber hairs on their tire treads. Nice.

It was a nice day for a party at Albion. Sunny, warm, dry trails and only a few people got hurt. What more could we ask for....!

While riding around the block I came across some friends with new rides. Sex machines all.

OMG. There was soooo much rain and mud that they stopped the race after 12 hours. No one will forget this weekend.

Finally, after four weekends of trail work we completed the BEST loop in The Pines. Our tradition is to name these trails after movies. While working, we kept suggesting appropriate movies names like Misery or Star Track. In the end we decided to name the trail after it's designer and builder - Joe Switzer. Hence Joe Dirt. The 24 hour race course at Albion was open for riding one week early. A group of club racers took the opportunity to get familiar with the course and test their lights on a night ride.

We spent another day in The Pines trying to finish a big loop. Ken wasn't there to give his safety speech about tool handling, but we know all that stuff.

Mitch and Ray on New Years Day. Hey, that rhymes! I'm a poet and didn't ....realize it.

We were on a mission. Each team was given a kit which included vague directions, a disposable camera, some pictures from the local trails and a list of tasks to complete. We had to follow a certain route using clues, find secret locations and then use our cameras to take pictures as proof of completing our tasks. The first team back with all photos and tasks completed would pocket about $100 per rider. We had three hours. READY! GO!

Before one of our regular Monday night rides, Wendy made a point of thanking the ride leaders who are such a big part of the club's popularity.

Thanks to Joe, Karla, Peter, John and Gary there is now an easier way to get up the hill by Phil's Follies. A seriously washed out section was rerouted so it is now rideable. We had a hard working group cut, prune and shape the trail Friday morning and then have time to make a new section to complete Wayne's World at the Pines.

Some of our 24 hour racers got together to pre-ride the actual race course in the dark. It was a good opportunity to learn the course and ensure our lights worked properly.

We had about 85 riders in The Pines. I wish I had taken a picture of the riders going from the school to the trails. Everyone rode single file down the road and it looked like a big army of ants.

We had a good turnout for the first club ride of the season. This is our tenth anniversary!!

Dave added an electric motor and battery to his old Schwinn and brought it to the Spring BBQ. Two things were quite evident....everybody who rode it wore a big smile and nobody wore a helmet.

Our Feb Blues Dinner is a social event that we schedule every February, but we always have it in March. It starts at 6 pm, but everyone shows up at 7 pm. We promise to leave by 10 pm, but we stay until 11 pm. We brag that we will start riding this month, but we really mean next month.

Liz and Leigh hosted a ski/BBQ at The Pines. Lots of snow. Lots of fun. Thanks for the pictures Liz!

There was really too much snow to be riding, or driving for that matter, but we did anyway.

The snow was too deep to ride in, so 18 of us went skiing and snowshoeing. Lunch followed at the Belfountain Inn.

Ken Hollis organized a 50/50 ride, where riders paid to ride 50 km and 50% of the proceeds go to a rider and 50% go to IMBA. Thanks for the pictures and thanks for organizing this Ken!

Liz, Leigh and Laurie organized a bike rally for over 40 club members who followed explicit directions over a 25 km course. The riders were split into random teams and then set off for a 3 hour tour. They had to find stuff, monitor their distances and find answers to questions along the way. Thanks L, L and especially L for organizing such a great event!

There have been several reports of cougar sightings in the Palgrave Forest recently. A CCC member and an orienteering group have encountered them this summer. I was doubtful at first, until I spoke with them and googled it. Needless to say, we were a little nervous during our club ride in Palgrave this week.

Seven of us rode the myriad of trails in Dufferin Forest near Mansfield. The last time we did this we got lost, but today we took two GPS units - one for the leader and one for the sweeper. Two hours later we successfully returned to the parking lot and ate lunch.

Twenty-two of us went to Buckwallow in Bracebridge to ride, camp, party and ...swim!!??

We had 52 racers on 8 teams and the weather was great. No injuries. Podium finishes. Couldn't be better.

Most of the time we're building new trails, but today we redirected existing trails and reclaimed the old land back to its original state. This is sustainable trail design that minimizes any erosion or usage problems. Our night ride of the Albion Hills race course proved to be more than we bargained for. There were 17 riders and we were bonking, crashing and visiting doctors offices or emergency wards! Read on.

This was our first Monday night ride of the season and we had over 80 people riding in about 8 different levels. This year the Monday rides are out of Belfountain School and we filled both parking lots and part of the road.

We had about 80 or 90 members out to ride and over 130 came for lunch. It turned out to be a really nice day.

We have no intention of changing the CCC logo, but a lot of members have fun making new ones. If you have any of your own, send them in.

Twelve riders showed up to ride Palgrave. It was 9 degrees and a little damp, but the trails were in great shape.

Twenty members showed up to ride and afterwards we ate lunch at the Belfountain Inn. Pictures from Mitch and Wayne Archer.

Ken organized a 50/50 ride, where we paid $10 to ride 50 km and 50% of the purse went to IMBA and 50% to one of the riders. Twelve of us rode on the warmest November day we could recall. It was a slow and muddy ride. After 5 hours we ran out of time and cut the ride short at 44 km. It was a blast!

We had great weather and there were 27 riders who rode around the Pines looking for poker cards. Pete Miles won the best poker hand and collected $270. Frank entertained us with his spectacular fireworks.... and his hula girl costume. We had some really great costumes for the ride.

It was a bit damp and muddy, but we still had about 50 members ride at Albion. The rain held off until after the ride... just like we planned. Ninety people ate lunch and shared in a big table full of prizes.
