The first After Hours @ the Library was held on March 28, 2009 at The Seymour Library of Brockport, Clarkson and Sweden. Approximately two-hundred patrons attended this event to support the creation of The Tot Spot at the library - an exciting new area for early literacy.



The guest speaker of the evening was author Anne Panning - winner of the 2006 Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction and noted New York Times Book Review Editor's Best Choice. Dr. Panning - who is also a professor at The State University of New York College at Brockport - presented an original piece titled "Four Libraries."



The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Cool Kids founder Steve Appleton. Also during the event, the 2008 Donor of the Year award was presented the Northside Service Center for purchasing over two-hundred New York Times Bestsellers for the library over the past year and The Kiwanis Club of Brockport presented a check to the library to purchase a Little Tikes Computer for The Tot Spot.



After Hours @ the Library was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fenton, Walmart, Bill and Hanny Heyen, Mahan Discount Liquor and Wine, and an Anonymous Benefactor.



Pairing Station Sponsors were: William and Monika Andres, The Brockport Village Board (personal contributions), The Clarkson Town Board (personal contributions), Robert and Kendra Gemmett, The Greater Brockport Chamber of Commerce, Richard and Donna Mancuso, George and Rosie Rich, Sunnking Electronics Recycling, The Sweden Town Board (personal contributions) and Danielle Windus-Cook Properties.
