A few weeks ago, a friend had given Hunter a tiny sun turtle he had found on the road. he took it home to his daughter, but after 18 months, she decided she didn't want it any more. He asked if Hunter could have it, and he has been thrilled with it ever since. He likes it better than the guinea pig...lol.

I was in for a lovely surprise today when I took Hunter to the bus stop. As we walked out the door, not one, but TWO hawks alighted on a dead tree across the street from my house. I didn't have my cam on me, so I prayed they would stay there until I was able to run back into the house and grab it. When I came back out, one of them had moved to a dufferent tree, but I was still able to pull off a few shots before they both disappeared into the woods. The one that stayed in the dead tree looked as if he decided to pose for me...lol.

I was finally able to get some decent pics of the magnificent bird. He is rather shy about people approaching him, but I was able to get close enough this time and not disturb him. When I saw him, I proceeded slowly, taking pics at the same time.

It's amazing what you see when you are trying to kill time. I had to wait about 40 minutes before my son got off the bus from school, so I went to my favorite river park. I didn't think I was going to see much, but as I looked down, there was this HUGE praying mantis walking across my foot! Alien looking creatures they are, yes?

I was waiting to shoot video of a hummingbird, and instead, I found this HUGE snail on the side of a little plastic table that I use when I hunker down for the hummingbirds.
Boredom does take it's toll on me at times....
