All three kits share a common chassis and most engine parts. The headers can look and fit better with a little help. Glue them together at the collector and allow to dry. Then bend the headers at the ports to align them. Then with a sanding stick sand the headers until the all are even....try and keep the angle the same as what is molded in. Cut a flange from .010 x .100 strip. This makes the headers look better and gives more surface to attach to the block.

The Mercury rear firewall was left box stock and glued to the locators in the rear wheel wells. You can see here how the Mercury chassis halfs are butt joined. I sanded each a little until the correct wheelbase was reached and then some scrap plastic was added to reinforce.

The rat roaster intake is not really the best intake for this era....and it is so tall that it keeps the hood from closing when we lower the body. So from the parts box I added a more correct....and lower intake.

Here is the Chevy chassis painted. I added a few roll cage bars with the .080 rod. One bar runs from the rear hoop to the upper right hand top hoop. The other runs from the main hoop to the right front chassis frame rail. The two rear main hoop bars AMT deleted from this kit for a unknown reason.

You must move the A pillar support from the front of the side cage BACK to the location shown here. This will allow the body to sit down on the chassis and move the support closer to the A pillar as on the real car. Repeat for other side. I gave the .080 rod a little fish mouth and glued in place. The Mercury has a different cage and does not need this mod....the Torino does need a modifacation LIKE this.

Next we need to modify the roll cage. MPC did a very poor job updating the roll cage when the did the Chevy S-3. If you do not correct this the body will not sit on the chassis right. Cut the kits A pillar bars off the cage sides. New uprights are made from Evergreen or Plastruct .080 rod. Here the driver side A pillar support is in place.
