All Natural year 1

THOUGHTS: This was a year to remember, from trail & errors to great new discoveries I can truly say it has been one heck of a journey. This year is by far the most memorable, it was a learning experience about my hair;its likes/dislikes, products, and methods that can make or break it. Now that I got that under control I look forward to growing some hair in year two. I would like to thank each and every single sista who helped make this experience easier from your advices, to nice comments/suggestions and more. Being natural would not be the same without my fotki family. I love you all 1.What I learned: ** Being natural means FREEDOM a.) hair loves essential oils -extra virgin coconut oil works best in warmer weather. b.) KBB hair butter for soft ends & twists c.)Do not be afraid to take risks when styling d.) hair-typing does not matter because no two or more heads of hair act the exact same. e.) listen to your hair f.) product junkism is a real diseased, get well soon ;-) I know I'm glad I did. 2.Achievements: a.) found staple products b.) learned different ways to style my hair short c.) learned hairs likes/dislikes 3.***Goal for next year***: a.) Get my summer and colder season regimen down pack with respects to learning and inviting new methods b.) retain as much length as possible!!

Having a TWA is difficult because I'm limited 2 what i can do with it, so i decided to try some things, at the end of it all i decided to just embrace the phase and went back to rocking it short and curly. Thank you to all those who gave me the encouragement to embrace all the phases of being natural. I LOVE YALL

6 month Nappiversary!!!

so after having my braids in for 2 months i decided to take them out for my 6 month nappiversary ( i gained 1 inch from the braids). this was my regimen;
1. bentonite clay wash
2. co washed w/ devacare conditon 1
3. applyed beyond the zone noodle head curl cream

results:
pros** my curls were defined like none other

cons*** white residue on the tips of my curls & dry scalp (which i never had b4)

conclusion: after reading reviews on both products, it seems people has had same results on both products!! the next day my hair was weighed down and crunchy. will give both products another shot but next time i wont combine the two to see which one is the cause of the issue. if same issues occur i will discontinue use..what a waste!

May 30, 2010

Took my braids out after the first week of being in Haiti due to heat&humidity, I didn't plan this so i had no products to work with, luckily i brought my cousin a jar of the Cantu Shea butter and i managed to find a bottle of vo5.

June 2010

For the month of June I took risks and experimented on lots of different ways to rock my hair; pin ups, style on dry hair, stretched out hair and many more, (special thanks to chocolate mocca for inspiring me)
I am glad I did because I no longer limit myself, freedom is a wonderful feeling!
I call this month is my BREAKTHROUGH month.

July

This month I ran with the idea of experimenting. I am like a kid in a candy store. I never thought i would have so as much fun as i am having being natural. I love walking into the bathroom and having no idea what i will do to my hair, then walk out pleased with what i can up with. I do this alot so I take lots of pix in case i forget how i came up with the style.

Due to the summer heat, my ends are telling me they have had enough, so I am going to begin tucking them away so they get some hydration.

The month of August is my 1 year nappiversary and birthday month, so i will have a double celebration! I am super duper excited!! I just cannot believe 1 year came so fast. wow i couldn't even see 5 month ahead when i first BCd, it just goes to show you; time really does fly when your having fun.

Happy 1 year nappiversary

1 year came so fast, I never thought it would come for me. This month I celebrate my 25th bday Aug. 19 and my 1 year nappiversary aug 23rd. I continue to surprise myself every time I style my hair, If someone told me a year and a half ago that one day I would be natural and style my own hair, I would bet my life that it wouldn’t happen, which is why I take pride in my accomplishments. I reached my 1 year hair goal which was to grow 6” of hair; I am now shoulder length stretch!

Now that I have styling under control, I will work on perfecting them and making them look neater. I have found styling easier now that my hair has grown, I have also found hair accessories that makes being natural a lot easier and plan to do an album on them. I look forward to many more discoveries, Year two here I come!
