E. Ray Austin's Vietnam #1

A collection of my (and a few others that were donated) pictures covering my "2 tours of duty" in Vietnam, starting from January 1969 until January 1970, and again from January 1971 until January 1972, with a special focus on the "Siege of DAK TO and BEN HET" - May thru July 1969, and Fire Support Base (FSB) 6 located on Rocket Ridge overlooking the Dak To Valley.

E. Ray Austin

Me at TAN CAHN, Central Highlands Vietnam, 1969, on top of the Water Tower at TAN CANH. Yeah, I know, what am I doing in shorts, right? Well, we did have a few days off once in a while.

Not too surprised about the shorts.  More surprised that you don't have skin cancer now as you rarely wore a shirt.

I have had a couple of skin cancer spots removed over the years and I need to get back to the doctor again cause I've noticed a few other "strange" spots have shown up.

      Hi,
You are very pretty lucky because 3 years later in 1972, two officers died on this tower manned the gun towards the north vietnamese assault !

Well, Thank God for that.  However, over the years I have had to have a lot of critters removed from my body to include a cancerous spot removed from an ear.  Other than that, I am good.
