The Great Wall of Diecast, Best Collection Day Yet!
Jan 15, 2012

On January 15th, 2012 I was finally able to get most of the 2010 and 2011 Diecast issues. Various circumstances meant I couldn't get them when new but luckily my dealer held them for me. I set a new personal record, getting 169 new diecast in one day. My brother came up with the idea to build a wall with them. Stacked 8 high (they were not stable enough to go higher) it was 7 feet long and 13 inches high! He also had the idea to back light them with one of my photography lights...I thought it was a great idea and looks really cool in pictures!

Storage Unit is better than shopping- Diecast.

As I've mentioned on a few message boards, I have a storage unit...since we got it back in the late 1990s the general idea has just been to throw anything in the way or not being dealt with at that time in storage...Well, we decided in 2012 that we were going to clean it up, get rid of what we don't want, and sort out what we do want. Find the stuff that has not been seen in almost 15 years.

I had no idea there would be so much diecast. Some, even, that I replaced not even remembering I already had a copy!

The storage unit project, well, it's going to take a long time. Probably about 2 years because we only have a limited time we work on it. So this album will continue to be updated as new finds are made, as well as placing the same images into the the brand albums.

Storage unit is better than shopping- sealed diecast.

Many of the diecast found in the storage unit were still sealed- or opened and then put back into the package. Most of them didn't last long in that regard- only long enough to get photographed! With the Majorettes found, it is the first time in over a decade that I opened any...

New Jersey Diecast Show
Apr 22, 2012

Despite being in the hobby since I was roughly 2 months old...I'd never been to a diecast show before...until this past weekend! I met up with some friends from Facebook and brought home a bunch of cool cars! (and even some free trading cards!)

Racing Champions Numbered Series

Racing Champions is, by far, my favorite Diecast company. Most of the street cars they issued were in numbered series. This album documents which cars are numbered what in each series.
Mint/Motor Trend was the first series, run from 1996-1999.
Hot Rod was the second series, run from 1997-99.
Police came next, but I don't know when it started.
Fire & Rescue and Lowrider both started fairly late in the 1990s- 1999 itself is possible. They both got into the 20s in numbers, and Lowrider continued on without numbers for an unknown time.
Classified Classics ran in 2000, and 50 Fastest Muscle Cars (really, 50 fastest toolings RC had!) ran in 2001. It was the last time many of the toolings were seen, although some appeared in the Kmart exclusive Route 66 line, and some have shown up rebadged as Johnny Lightnings.
There was also a Hot Rod Magazine 50th Anniversary set, a Hot Rod Magazine Cover Cars set, and a Target promo set.

May 6, 2012

The Rhinebeck show, a real car show, is one of my favorite places to hunt diecast.
