A freak major snowstorm hit the Hudson Valley on October 29th, 2011. In my life time it is the first measurable snowfall in October, and there was a lot of it. We got 9 inches, some places just a few minutes away got up to 22. We were without power from 6:42 PM until 9 AM on the 30th. Heard before we lost power it was the earliest major snowstorm since they began keeping records- during the Civil War!
