The Continental Basketball Association was a professional league in operation from 1946-2009, and has a really interesting history. Some of the things they came up with have become staples in all of basketball, most notably the three-point line, which the CBA used in the 1960s, before the ABA was created. They also had partnerships with the NBA and even the ABA to develop players, the NBA's 10-day contract was created as a way to call up players- a role now held by the NBA's D-League. At least one CBA franchise is now part of the D-League as well. There is a good article on Wikipedia about the CBA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental_Basketball_Association Sadly I never got to see any CBA games, at least I don't recall seeing any. In March of 2016, however, I finally tracked down some of their cards!
