Water Rescue At Brandywine Picnic Park
Fame Rescue was dispatched at approximately 1:45PM on Tuesday, June 9th for a water rescue at the Brandywine Picnic Park. Initial calls were reporting two boaters that went over the dam at the creek, and were trapped in the water. Assistant 53 (McDonald) arrived on location and confirmed the report, and quickly added additional water rescue units from Longwood, and Kennett Square. Squad, and Rescue 53 arrived, launched the boat into the water, and removed one subject who was taken to Chester County Hospital. An intense search in the water by Fame, Longwood, and Kennett continued for the second subject fighting off the high water, as well as an approaching severe thunderstorm. Additional boats were called from Lionville, and Wagontown as well as the Phoenixville Dive Rescue Team, the Chester County Major Incident Response Team, Air/Light 52, Air 46, Comm 1, the North Penn Canteen Service (Montgomery County), and fire police from multiple jurisdictions. Crews called of the search after 10 PM that evening, but returned the next day to continue to search for the second subject. As of this update, the second subject has yet to be located. The Fame would like to thank everyone who was there Tuesday, and Wednesday for their help. (You all know who you are! There are too many to remember!)
