Pictures from the funeral for Ray Downey Sr. F.D.N.Y. Chief of Rescue Ops. Killed in the Towers on 9-11-01.

Memorial Services were held in Delaware County today at the current Police & the under construction Fire & Ems Memorials in Rose Tree Park. Numerous Law Enforcement agencies, and Fire and Ems personnel from through out the County were on hand. As well as local, County and State Government officials & citizens, and family of fallen emergency responders. Wreaths were placed at both memorials for those that have given the ultimate sacrifice protecting the communities they were from. A moment of silence and prayer was held for those that have so selfishly given of themselves and for all those who lost their lives so tragically in New York, Western Pennsylvania and Washington, 7 yrs ago.

This years ceremonies were attended by Many of Delco's finest, Police, Fire Ems and Public Officials. The ceremonies were held in a wind driven heavy rain at times. A new monument was dedicated and unveiled today by the family of a local resident who lost his life that fateful day in the first tower to be hit. The monument holds a piece of the towers permanently set in front of the stone. Wreaths were placed at both the Fire & Ems memorial as well as the Police memorial. The wife of a slain Upper Chi Police officer and Chase Frost were on hand to help in placing the wreaths.

Emergency Responders were invited to attend a Mass held at St Madelines in Ridley park, in honor of those who lost their lives in the twin towers. The St James High School Alumni Choir and the Amtrak Police Pipes & Drums provided their services for the ceremony. The service was attended by many local emergency responders as well as local citizens.

Services to honor those lost 9-11-01 were again held at the Police, Fire & EMS memorial in Rose Tree. Reefs were placed at both memorials and at the Stone with the piece from the world trade center bldgs. he service was attended by many Fire Departments, Police Departments, Sherrifs Department, Ems, Families and local government officials & dignitaries

The pictures in this album are all taken at Ground Zero. They start on 9-13-01 and progress until the rubble has been removed down into the basin. I made several trips to get these pictures and watch the progress being made. These pictures don't even scratch the surface at showing the total destruction and devastation, or the scope of the tragedy.

Haverford Twp held memorial services at the Township Bldg on Darby rd. A tree with a plaque was dedicated on the front lawn to the Twp bldg, in remebrance of the lives lost in 2001. A check was presented to Upper Makefield Twp for their memorial park "The Garden of Reflection". This park is in remembrance of lives lost of residents of the twp. Haverford Twp Police Color Guard & Haverford middle School Choir were on hand as well as Firefighters, Ems, Twp officials and residents of Haverford Twp.
