Companies were dispatched for the smoke detector activation. P/D arrived reporting heavy smoke from a dwelling. 04-9 arrived reporting heavy fire 1st & 2nd floor rear. Companies initially went on an interior attack but were forced to evacuate the bldg due to rapidly deteriorating bldg conditions. The 2nd & 3rd alarms were called for. Companies were in service with numerous handlines from the exterior.
