Fatal Dwelling Fire, 3831 W Marshall rd, Upper Darby
79 cars(udpd) were in the area when they noticed a glow coming from the area of the 3800 block of w. Marshall rd. further investigating the officer noticed heavy fire coming from the dwelling, he notified delcom to disp FD units and confirmed there was entrapment in the dwelling, 2 officers attempted rescues of the trapped victims & were successful in rescuing a 4 year old child. Within minutes after FD disp units arrived reporting heavy fire showing from a 2 stry twin dwelling, 20-1 went in svc w/ 1"3/4 handlines & 36-2 dropped a supply line, numerous truck and engine comanies went in svc w/ fire suppression and search and rescue, crews req'd ground ladders to the front of the bldg, despite their greatest efforts one victim was found doa. Crews had heavy fire extending to the 2nd floor rear and to the exposure, All hands continued working with heavy fire conditions in the 1st & 2nd floor rear, while truck companies opened the roof, CMD placed the F.U.C shortly after the 1 hr. mark. The 4 year old child was transported to CCMC burn center in critical condition, the 2 officers who attempted the rescues were transported to DCMH for smoke inhaltion..................GREAT JOB to all UDFD, UDPD, and EMS crews on scene!!
