There was heavy smoke through out the upper floors of the bldg approx 20 stories 100 x 400. Numerous rescues were made by F/F's. 2 F/F maydays were sounded. 1 F/F was transported to Lankenau Hosp in respiratory distress. Approx 9 residents of the bldg were transported for smoke inhalation. Companies had an old 3 story Church. Heavy fire in the roof area and back of the Church. Water supply was a problem due to the distance of the Church from any hydrants. The Church was located deep into the park off of Grant ave. An interior attack was mounted for a short time until it was deemed unsafe. Master streams were then placed into service. Access to the Church was originally hampered by a construction fence around the bldg. The Church was under renovations. This Church may have been built in the 1700 or 1800's.
