    HEBRON - ST PETER'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH 1826 - 01
St. Peter's was my home church over 60 years ago. It was covered in Ivy and was

quite beautiful. My father played the organ for over 25 years for free and I sang in

the choir. Lewis Phelps was still driving from Andover to attend services. They

always sat in the same pew. Several of us kids climbed the ladder to the bell tower

and we cried when they hung a curtain over the mural behind the alter. We kids

played in the cemetery and bones were found way down back and brought up to

church. Imagine the surprise of the congregation. The church has changed but the

many memories have not. Thank You.

    HEBRON - ST PETER'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH 1826 - 01
St. Peter's was organized in 1734 although I don't know the date of the actual

building of the church. Ephraim Phelps' stone in the cemetery has a date of 1749. I

am sure if searched, the cemetery holds older burials. I am a direct descendant of

Capt. Nathaniel Phelps, first town clerk on the organization of the town of Hebron,

    1708-9.
