WINDSOR LOCKS - FORMER TRAIN STATION - 10
I remember walking down those steps to get on the train to Hartford, where my grandmother (Julia E Polmatier) would take me to buy my new Easter outfit.  It was so exciting for me, hearing the thunder of the train arriving making butterflies in my stomach. The crash of the wheels and steam, my grandmother trying to hold her hair in place.  These were some of my favorite memories!  Whenever I ride by the train station, I wish I could go inside to see where my grandmother and I would wait for the train!

Also, my grandmother's sister (Sadie Wallace) would take the train to Hartford to work everyday!

Personally, I would like to see the station stay where it is!  For me, and I am sure many others, it would not be the same if moved.

WINDSOR LOCKS - MEMORIAL HALL - CIVIL WAR MUSEUM -MacAULAY
    Hello,
I read somewhere else on the Internet that Kenneth Macaulay, who was killed in the Normandy invasion, is buried in Long Island National Cemetery. Also my brother-in-law knew him and was there when he was killed.
    regards
    Joe

WINDSOR LOCKS - FORMER TRAIN STATION - 01
Presently there is a local group who is raising funds to renovate and save the train station. There are only a few historical buildings left in Windsor Locks and it is great to see this effort in saving this beautiful old building

WINDSOR LOCKS - ELM STREET - BUILT 1833.jpg
ACCORDING TO THE 1870 CENSUS, MY GREAT GRANDFATHER (JOHN WALLACE) OWNED THIS HOUSE. HE LIVED IN THE HOUSE WITH 8 CHILDREN THAT INCLUDED MY GRANDFATHER (JAMES WALLACE) MY GRANDFATHER EVENTULLY OWNED THE HOUSE AND RASIED HIS OWN FAMILY WHICH INCLUDED MY FATHER (FRANCIS WALLACE). I DON'T KNOW IF JOHN WALLACE BOUGHT OR BUILT THE HOUSE. HE WAS A BLACKSMITH BY TRADE AND WORKED AT DEXTERS PAPER MILL. BOTH MY GREAT GRANDFATHER (JOHN) AND HIS WIFE (JULIA) EMIGRATED FROM IRELAND---I WISH I KNEW FROM WHERE????
