Enemy of a Bee Hive / Excessive Moisture.
I've tried various moisture control techniques
over the past winters most have been mostly successful
but I am always looking for new ideas and better
ways. This time around I have decided to leave
on my Mann Lake Feeders after feeding was
over with in the fall and set them up as
ventilation and moisture control top boxes.
I will post the results here in the Spring. Gary

Earth Day at the Cape May County Park was pretty cool... Sunny but windy, still a great day...
I helped out with the Jersey Cape Beekeepers Association Booth and the Cape May County Beach Plum Association Booth,
since I am a member of each. It's great that both booths were together!!!

What a Great "Hands-on" building of the Hive Components, we had!!!
A very well organized class with all the proper tools and training...
Thanks to all those that helped to set it up,
and to all the students for a job well done!!!
In 2 hours we put together about 35 + Deep supers and 35 + Mediums and all related frames and foundations!!!

Next week is our "Hands-on" building of the hives at the Lockwood Center Building... bring your basic carpentry skills or learn them...
We will have air compressors / staple guns / bottles of glue and tables set up to get our equipment put together!!! Moving right along...

A totally productive afternoon at our State Apiarist's Beeyard!!! Thank you Tim Schuler for hosting the April "South Jersey Beekeepers Association" Meeting at your place. Many thanks to all those involved in setting up and joining in the 3 hands-on rotating work groups!!! We had lots of sun-fun / high spirits-excite...ment / and the knowledge & experience was flowing faster than honey by the heater '-))) I did't get a final count but there must have been 50 + People and included a buch of us from "Jersey Cape". Long day but I'm working on the Photos and a Cool Demo Video of removing an active honey bee colony from a wall removed from an old house and repositioned in Tim's Yard!!! WOW... Check back... Some were even returning with their pollen sacs Loaded!!!

1. We captured a swarm and relocated to a hive.
2. We got tips on and learned good hive inspection techniques.
3. and we also found and discussed a variety of Parasites to Honey Bees, as well as,
other hive pests and their treatments and or controls.

There were alot of booths and events set up for a 2 day Jamboree, 1 hour from my home,
but I went to this event for the main purpose of learning more about Honey Beekeeping for my Farm.

to Flush Gamebirds out of a field for sport hunting. (See near end of this Album)
