This is a "Chicken Bus" named for the goods that locals carry from their homes to market. Most people can't afford cars or pickups so this is the very typical mode of public transportation. (these are very used school buses from the USA that are
    Hi Gary What colorful buses.
  • Exploring a Local Market in Antigua, Guatemala...
I didn't know much about Central America before this trip. Each day is packed with learning experiences... Incredible. Today I visited a coffee plantation and learned the whole process... And so much more. Problem is always not enough time to share on the Internet. However, with my iPhone (only, no laptop) I have been able to do everything you see on Fotki. Hope it's not a wasted effort. Hasta Luego / Gary
  • Having Lunch with a Family near Antigua, Guatemala. They seem very happy and self sufficient... This is the grandmother and mother in law in the kitchen after our wonderful traditional meal...
Antigua, Guatemala is a real showcase of People, History and Beauty and a UNESCO world Heritage site...  I wish there was more time to share ;-( a few photos & videos are all that's possible to upload at a time whilst traveling.  More when I get home.   But I hope you like what's here ;-). Have a great day / Gary

Santa Catarina Barahena School Visit near Antigua, Guatemala... The children were so charming!!! What a great day :-)
On a trip?  Sounds interesting, these children look happy and well cared for.  Is a school visit part of the itinerary; are you with an organised group?  Have fun.

Brick & Roof Tile making in Guatemala. Made with Mud Only / Formed and set out for 3 day drying period.
Definitely not an easy job. I'll bet these gentlemen don't have to be rocked to sleep when they get home in the evenings. I don't imagine one could work for numerous years at this job. The repetitive mixing of the mud with one's feet must cause various problems with one's legs eventually. I've thoroughly enjoyed your photographs thus far, dearest Gary, of your trip to Central America; and I anxiously look forward to seeing the remainder of your adventures. It's been a wonderful historical and geography lesson; and I learned a number of things I didn't know about in this part of the world. Thank you for always sharing your worldwide journeys with all of us. (Continued. . .)
