The houses are indeed similar. No wonder, the carpenter journeymen were just that, travelling tradesmen. This one has an interesting wheel shaped ornament on the first floor. The more carved ornaments, the more mony has been put into it. This building is rather old (I guess 18th century) you can tell from the higher stories 'hanging over' the lower and the building not being 100% symetrical. The new Thermopane windows are somewhat disturbing tough. Even if they are divided in subframes you can tell it's all one piece. Particularily the tilted ones. The curtains are straight up and down curtains, which is defenitely modern. You can also tell it has been modernized recently.
Now turn back to 'my house' that is in Bernkastel-Kues on the Moselle. http://public.fotki.com/stein_s/deutschland/dietzenbach/2003_steins_birthda/scan17_others_walki.html

Hi Stein!!! WOW!!! I see what you mean,,, you got good eyes!!! This home has definately been modernized, I see the difference in the windows as you point out!!! Well, I am a tourist and you are a local,,, so there you have it...
Wait till you visit Cape May some day and I will show you true and fake Victorians... (Houses not ladies) Tschuss Gary...
