Heidelberg is beautiful, have seen it as a child only, we stayed the night in Neckarsteinnach, Hotel Schwalbennest!! Wonder if it still exists. And is even near Heidelberg:-) Should always look in the net first and comment later, yes! Maybe next time.
Well, we are trusting Gary and Ed to keep the wine. This is the lesser barrel (Kleines Fass) Built 1667 by Count Electorate Karl Ludwig with a content of 204 Fuder, 3 Ohm und 4 Viertel, that is about 195.000 Liter = 52'000 US gallons, don't confuse with Großes Fass, Germany's biggest (if not greatest) wine barrel. Both barrels are in the cellars of the Heidelberg castle. More here: http://www.zum.de/Faecher/G/BW/Landeskunde/rhein/hd/schloss/fass00.htm From 13th thru 18th Century the Castle was the recidence of the Count Electorate (they elected the German emperors) of the Palatine and went through a glourious and versatile history.
