Yes. I've been there. If I remember ... this was the place to sacrifice virgins.

Chichen Itza!!! Mayan words meaning Chi = mouth / Chen = well / and Itza refers to the Jaguar and the underworld. It means the mouth of the well leading to the underworld... Here is a picture of the nearby Cenote that this ancient city is named after -
    is nice!!!!

Hey!!! Thanks for Joining me on this little adventure at Chichen Itza, Mexico!!!
You must be one of the few healthy enough to climb that sucker. What happens if ya don't get back down before the bus leaves? Sacrifices?

Hi Gary!!! Nice name '-) Thanks for your visit to my Fotki and your comment on one of my Chichen Itza pix,,, Actually, I ran up and down a couple of times... It was fun and actually pretty easy when you got the hang of it... There is a rope in the middle for the faint of heart to hold on too for the way down... Steps are VERY VERY narrow and if you look straight down,,, well,,, don't do that...and you will be fine '-) Gary

PS,,, I see that you are from Norway, Michigan... My daughter is living in Belleville and goes to school in Ann Arbor, Michigan... Nice state you have there... where is Norway???

    Cheers... Gary in Nj-USA

Nice!!! U've done it :) we didn't actually. When we got there it was about 118F. We still wanted to try to get to the top, but our group (it was a group tour) decided to walk around first. After 40 minutes in that heat, we gave up the whole idea and went back to the bus :)Did u clap your hands ? The surround sound is amazing :)

    That's as far as i've got :) http://public.fotki.com/nelenka/year_2003/trips/somewhere_in_mexico/chichen-itza_-_maya/img_0176.html

View from the top of the Chichen Itza Pyramid. 360 looks like this!!! Views of other Ruins and low, flatlands are common.
Gary, did you get to Playa Del Carmen while you were there?
Great bar called "The Tequila Barrel" there.

Greetings from the Top of the Chichen Itza Pyramid, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.
I was there the exact same day! The details on your pics say 4/3/05, which was the same day I went. Wow, what are the odds of that. I have a picture taken at the same spot too. It was so hot there. Next time I'll remember to bring a hat. Great pics.
