Fujimi 1/24 Ford Gt-40 mkII (2nd place Lemans 1966)

Presented is a 1966 GT-40 mkII 2nd place winner at LeMans. Shelby American Racing swept LeMans that year and this car was driven by the combination of Miles/Hulme. Fujimi's 1/24 scale kit is finished in MCW light Blue with painted ID "splash" on the fenders. A "Studio 24" photoetched set was added as well as a "Historic Racing Miniature's" resin engine and suspension. The body was sectioned and hinged to allow viewing of this gorgeous resin engine kit. Engine was wired and the weber carbs and intake (included in the HRM kit) were discarded. In its place I installed a parts box intake and a "Parts by Parks" 4bbl Holley carburator which was also plumbed with braided line and fittings. Oil coolers for the 427ci engine were scratch built as was the plenum surrounding the carb. Stabilizer bar and tie rods were also scratchbuilt and the engine and suspension were finished in various shades of enamel, alcad, and metalizer paints. Torsion bars were also added. Tire markings are from Shabo.
