Eind 18e eeuw heeft zich in het Westeinde het landgoed Swanesteyn van de familie Van Oosthuyse ontwikkeld. Het bezit bestaat uit een statig herenhuis, bijgebouwen en een grote tuin. De in 1846 opgerichte Vincentius Vereniging, die zich inzet voor de sociale en godsdienstige behoeften van de arbeidersklasse, komt in 1848 in het bezit van het landgoed.
In 1849 wordt in de opstallen de eerste katholieke school van Den Haag geopend.
Vanaf 1861 verzorgen de Broeders van Maastricht de onderwijs inhoudelijke taken. Ze nemen hun intrek in het landhuis dat vanaf dat moment als klooster in gebruik genomen wordt.

In Hoek van Holland they have made a big complex both sides with 2 doors to close the waterway to Rotterdam and the water can`t go in with storm from the NW., and the houses in the places neer the water continuous have dry feets.
