- In July last year I decided to try locs. I wasn't sure how it would go or if it would suit me, but I thought I'd give it a shot. I'd gone through every hair "phase" I could think of - jheri curl, fire cream, natural afro, pressed natural - and in February 2006, I desided to chop it all off and start again.
For me, deciding to loc my hair was not seen as a great 'spiritual' journey to 'locdom' or whatever else you wanna call it, this is just me, finally embracing what God gave me. I'm realizing that I don't have to conform to society's idea of beauty. I don't need to have long, straight hair, light skin and eyes and be a size zero in order to be successful. I'm just me.
