Jon - I'm going to drive it as is for the summer and fall, then worry about it during the winter. Thanks! The 993 (made from ‘95-‘98 give or take) was the last air cooled Porsche, while the 996 was water-cooled. If you see ‘Boxster’ type headlights, you’re looking at a 996. If you see the older more roundish lights – she’s a 993. more roundish lights – she’s a 993. - photos: 207 (308 MB)

10/15/08: Hi Jon, Thanks for the Congrats, and a BIG THANKS for the awsome decals. They worked great and look even better. My wife was so happy she had tears in her eyes. I knew she would. I actually did pretty well at the show and took three second place awards, a Judges Choice ans a Best Interior. One of the 2nds and the last two were for the Chevy Panel. Oh by the way, it is a '33 Chevy Panel Truck and it hasn't been available since the early 70's and won't be again because they destroyed the tool to make the Barnabas Collins van from the Dark Shadows T.V. show. The VW engine was built by Andy Behrens of the LIARS club. I know he won an award with it but I'm not sure what. It's won many awards at other shows as well. The Best of Show was won by someone whose name I don't know for a mostly scratch-built Model "T" fire engine. The model was simply outstanding. I think the show turned out okay but I missed you and a number of the guys asked if you were coming. Too bad you couldn't have made it. Thanks again for the decals, they came out better than I ever imagined. Hope to see you soon, Barry
12/7/08: Hi Jon, It was really good to see you at the party on Saturday. That is pretty much the turnout we get at the meetings, maybe not that many every time, but pretty close and we have just about that much fun each time as well. Much different then it used to be, that's for sure. The Treasurer is Dwayne Benoit so if you want to give me the check at Chips on the 27th I can give it to him at the Jan. 3rd meeting for you if you want. The guy next to you was Rich Arkelian and if you bring the model to Chips on the 27th I can give it to him at the Jan 3rd meeting as well, AFTER I get the money from him. I won't give him the kit until he pays what you want for it. This is BUH-WHEAT sayin, hope to see you soon, O-TAY!! -
-
Paul Newman, the Academy-Award winning superstar who personified cool as an activist, popcorn impresario, the anti-hero of such films as "Hud," "Cool Hand Luke" and "The Color of Money" and most importantly to us, as a race car driver and motoring enthusiast, has died. Sources tell us Newman died Friday, 9/26/2008 after a long battle with cancer at his farmhouse near Westport. He was 83.
From the AP:
In the 1970s, Newman, admittedly bored with acting, became fascinated with auto racing, a sport he studied when he starred in the 1972 film, "Winning." After turning professional in 1977, Newman and his driving team made strong showings in several major races, including fifth place in Daytona in 1977 and second place in the Le Mans in 1979. "Racing is the best way I know to get away from all the rubbish of Hollywood," he told People magazine in 1979.
Despite his love of race cars, Newman continued to make movies and continued to pile up Oscar nominations
