1955 Firedome, 292 Hemi, 2D HT. Darlington, PA, USA. March 2011.

eBay item 220746131943.
Bidding expiry date 5th. March 2011.
Quote from sales text:
Up for your consideration is a 1955 Desoto, Firedome, 2 door hardtop. I'm listing this car for my Dad who lovingly restored it in the early 70's. Restoration included body work, paint, seat covering, carpet, light mechanicals, and tires. It has always been garage kept since the restoration and was never driven in rain or snow during his ownership. Overall the car is 90% original. The exterior red color, seat fabric, power brake booster, and radiator core are the only known changes from original equipment. The 292 cubic inch, Hemi V-8, starts and runs well and has a fresh NOS carburator. There are no abnormal engine noises or smoke. A new battery was installed in November of 2010. The two speed automatic transmission was rebuilt within the last 4 years and shifts and performs fine. Rear brakes were rebuilt at the same time as transmission rebuild. Car is equiped with power steering and brakes. All lights and guages function including the radio and clock. Three of the wide white tires are near new with 85% tread, and one is brand new. Seats have been re-upholstered with correct color fabric and are in flawless condition. The original headliner is intact with no cuts or tears but is showing its age with stains. Dash and guages are in very good condition. Carpet is in near new condition. Floors and trunk are solid with no rust holes or repair. Exterior stainless steel trim is all in good condition. Red exterior paint, although showing its age in a few places, is in good condition and shows well when clean. White exterior paint is in good condition with the exception of the lower rear quarter panels. Some of the chrome trim is pitted with age and exposure but its all there and intact.

There is an original shop manual, new NOS fuel pump (not installed), and few misc. spare parts. Car does have the original jack and a spare tire.

The car has been sitting for approximately 3 years and has developed a few issues that can be easily fixed. Brake master cylinder has failed and will most likely need replaced. Front brake shoes and cylinders need attention. With the brake master cylinder and front brake issues the car is not drivable but can be moved under its own power and stopped with the parking brake. There is an exhaust leak, most likely in the cross over pipe. Lower rear quarter panels have rust repair that is now showing its age and starting to bubble and seperate. Rear bumper is dented.

To sum things up, myself, 3 brothers, and one brother in-law, all helped my dad during the restore and we hate to see it go. My dad is at the age where its time to pass this piece of history on. I've been with on several trips to car shows and it never failed to draw attention and admoration. It did win an award in 1994 at a local Walter P. Chrysler Club meet for "Best of Show" Desoto. Although its nothing like our modern cars, for its age and design, it is a pleasure to drive. For those of us who remember what a true "hard top" body style is, this is one of them and a "all windows down" cruise brings back fond memories. With some light TLC, and minor body/paint work, this car will again be a good show car. I've attempted to provide as much detail as possible but please e-mail any further questions.

Car is for sale in "as-is" condition. There are no warranties expressed or implied. A $1,000 downpayment is due within 72 hours of auction close. Full payment is expected within 7 days of auction close or at pickup, which ever occurs first. Personal checks will not be accepted. Please take the bidding process seriously. Don't waste our time by bidding on something your not prepared to, or capable of, paying for. Thank you.

1955 DeSoto Firedome Four Door Sedan
    Very Nice Shape
Sweet Running 291c.i. Hemi w Auto Trans

This is a very clean 55 DeSoto. Has the classic grill desired by many 50's hot rod builders. This car runs and drives very nice. Starts right up and purrs like a sewing machine with not even the slightest of vibration. Powerflite shifts nicely and cars goes down road well.

Has a very nice interior, guessing is not original but a restoration project within the last ten years. In any event looks very nice. All glass good, locks etc all work.

I bought this as a project to keep and a car to drive but I am just too buried right now and this car needs a nice home. Major thing it needs is brakes. Not sure what all it needs in that area but worse case would be master cylinder rebuild kit along with new wheel cylinders. I priced everything assuming worse case and it is less than $350.00 for parts. $200.00 of this is a power brake and master cylinder rebuild kit. You may not even need to rebuild it as I have another correct setup that goes with car, I just have not put it on to see how it works. Looks like is should be fine and was being used a year and a half ago. Also, not all the electrical devices work and I have not even checked into it, usually this is an easy fix. Again, time is not my friend right now.

Doors shut great, windows work, car has power brakes and seat. No rust issues ANYWHERE. This is a solid car that could be cherished for years. Ready for cruise-ins once brakes are addressed.

Remember, this is an original low mileage (105K) hemi that runs like new. Owner will be very happy with this car. A nice sweet ride!

Buy it now price is extremely reasonable for even today's market. Nice car for the money. Once reserve is met BIN is gone forever. Please feel free to call or text me at 503-804-2457.
I am a long time trusted Mopar enthusiast and not a dealer. I sell a couple of cars a year on EBAY and have very happy customers as this is not about the money with me. I just love the old mopars, unfortunately I have five 57,58,59 finned Plymouths in my way and the DeSoto has to go so I can breathe again.
    Thanks, Clif

1956 Adventurer. Arizona, USA. Feb 2011

    eBay item 270702384191
    Ended: Feb 15, 2011

1956 DeSoto Adventurer - Rare car in a rare color scheme, needing complete restoration.

I purchased this car, on what started out to be a quest for its engine for my late brother. Undecided whether to undertake the restoration project, I'm offering it up for auction. The vehicle came from a collection of Mr. Don Petty's, a cousin to some guy named Richard. Don stored it in his facility (here in Phoenix) for fifteen years, prior to which it was stored in a Mopar dealership's yard in California for about the same period of time. After I purchased the car in early 2003, it spent another three years in the Arizona sun, but the last five in my garage. To my knowlege, it's always lived in the west. The car has not run since it was parked by Don, 23 years ago, hasn't been registered since well before then.

Please analyze the photographs closely. Only 24 photos can be posted. I have many more, which can be sent to those interested via electronic means. I want any new owner to know exactly what they're getting. If you have knowlege of this particular model, you know it has a very interesting Chrysler history; there were only 963 produced. Don estimated at the time of my purchase, fewer than 50 remained.

The car is complete, except for the spare tire and jack, windshield wipers, fender antennae. It has the two-speed powerflight transmission. I have a torqueflight transmission (three-speed) and push-button selector, which will go with it. All of the stainless and chrome trim I have - I'm missing the windshield visor center piece, however. I'm including a full set of 1956 Adventurer wheel covers, restored by Hubcap Kimbo in 2003. Three of the four wheel covers are excellent; the fourth is very good.

The odometer reading is unreliable - actual mileage unknown. The tires are merely used rollers. The interior is, essentially, gone - destroyed by the Arizona sun. The fabric and leather panels remain, but the stitching has dry-rotted. The stuffing and foam are dried and crispy. The seat frames are solid.

The engine (341 Hemi/325HP, S24A) is complete, from the oil pan to the batwing air cleaner, and turns freely. The diasappointment is the front floorpan. Water found its way through cracks in the undercoating, and rusted the floorpan over the years it sat outdoors. Another floorpan is provided, which has ample good material for the passenger side. More material will be needed for the driver side. I have chipped away sample patches of undercoating from the underside, revealing clean paint in most areas, surface rust in others. The photos illustrate minor rust areas in the fenders. Patch panels for the rear lower fenders are included. The door sills and rocker panel areas are solid. The passenger door was sprung; I have another from a '56 Chrylser, included.

I have emphasized the flaws in an effort to be totally forthcoming. This 55 year-old, classic, high-performance Mopar is, overall, very well structurally preserved and perfect for a straight-forward restoration. A restored, gold and black '56 Adventurer sold for $143,000 last month at Barrett-Jackson. Cost to restore this car ? Unknown. Depending upon who does the work, i.e., how much is done by one's own skilled hands and how much is farmed-out, the cost could be significant.

This is a re-listing. I made a mistake editing the original, during which my reserve price was deleted. I had to cancel a bid from an interested person - I sincerely apologize.

    Thanks for your interest!

1957 Adventurer Convertible. Connecticut, USA. Feb 2011

    eBay item 120687991446.
Bidding has ended 27th Feb 2011.

    VIN 50423447

    Quote from sales text:
Beautiful 1957 Desoto Adventurer Convertible. This comes from a museum of finned Mopar cars. Excellent 10 year old restoration with recent freshening throughout. Details:

Overall: This is a legitimate and fully restored car. It is not a cut or otherwise tampered with automobile. Most of these are either using donor bodies from other Chrysler cars of the era or were cut including one very notable sale that occurred earlier this year. At the highest level (such as the Amelia Island or Meadowbrook Concours), it would not be unreasonable to expect recognition for this car although a best in class is probably slightly out of reach for this car currently.

Exterior: Excellent paint throughout. No rust or rust repair anywhere. The prep work for the paint was quite good and the result is excellent black paint throughout with only slight buffing marks. The chrome and trim is also excellent. There is no pitting (NONE) and no dents in any of the trim or chrome. The wheels are Kelsey Hayes and are not regarded as correct for this car by the clubs, etc. I do have a set of 4 (FOUR) decent hub caps that I will include if buy it now is used or will make available for a very reasonable cost if buy it now is not used. (NOTE: Please do not contact me looking to buy the hubcaps if you are not the buyer of this car...thanks) The top is a brand new tan top that has never been down..it is perfect (please note that a couple of the interior images were taken with the previous top down). From an exterior standpoint, this car could be shown at very high levels with confidence. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being best) the exterior is an 8.5. One the Brownell sale (1-6, 6 being worst, 1 being a trailer queen), this car is a 2.

Interior: Again, excellent restoration with barely a hint of aging. There is a very very slight crack in the top of the drivers seat. This would be very easily remedied with a redye. The carpet is 100% correct and excellent. The instruments are also 100% correct and restored to excellent condition. The other issue with the interior is the steering wheel clock which has some discoloration in the glass. I had the clock out of it when we did the top and only noticed it when reinstalling it. Using the same metrics as the exterior, the interior is a 9 (or a 2 to 2+).

The engine bay is excellent as well with recent high quality detailing throughout. It has all the correct components and has recently also undergone mechanical tune up etc so the car runs like a clock. It has the correct air cleaners and correct carburetors. It starts instantly and runs exceptionally well. There is slight dust evident from the surroundings. The engine bay is am 8.5 (2).

The trunk is also beautiful but has a stain on the inner fabric (see picture). I believe this to be the biggest 'issue' with the car. Removing it to re-dye was a concern and I did not want anyone going in the trunk with dye to try to rectify it. You can clearly see the mark in the pictures of the trunk area. It is not at all bad but it bothers me.

Underside is show detailed having just been done. Anything there would be dust only. It is detailed to a high level and looks great.

Other: We just replaced the bushings and some other rubber parts as the rubber had stiffened and separated from sitting. The car has been largely on display since restoration and only shows some 620 miles since completion.

How does this car stack up to comparables (I post this NOT to offend but to better illustrate for someone thinking about spending a lot of money on a car the actual condition of THIS car)? If you currently own one of the following cars, I apologize if I offend in any way.

    1) The Milt Robson car: The Gold Standard (no pun intended) of '57 Adventurer convertibles. Bullet-proof provenance, Sold in November for $341,000. The Robson car had slightly better paint but a few fish eyes. This car has no fish eyes, but does have buff swirl marks (SLIGHT). Robson's car was otherwise nearly perfect ready to compete and win best in class at any level.
    2) The 57 Heaven Museum car: That car was missing a data plate (immediate red flag) but was comparable in condition to this car. It is white (which I think is a rarer color) and sold for $287,500 appx 18 months ago.
    3) Barrett Jackson #1 (sold 30 days ago) the '56 fireflight convertible restored by Bob Schmitt: Bullet-proof provenance, Sold for $363,000. Over the top resto by the best Finned restoration guy in the world. I think it would be hard to argue that this car is not only the best '56 on the planet, but probably the best Exner example on the planet today. Bob; you are amazing!!!!!!!!!
    4) Barrett Jackson #2 (Also sold 30 days ago) the '57 Black convertible Adventurer. Sold for $187,500. Very old restoration and many many incorrect details. In my opinion, needs to be restored again.

Lastly, the numbers: The 57-59 Adventurer convertibles are regarded as some of the most sought after Chrysler's in the post-war era. There are believed to be about 20 1957's left, approximately 5 1958's and somewhere between 5 and 10 1958's. Sadly, these cars rusted out or the bodies were used to restore the higher dollar (at the time) letter cars 20-30 years ago.

I not only invite, but strongly encourage inspections throughout this auction. This is a great car but an expensive car and I want the buyer to be confident in knowing what they are getting. Please feel free to call me any time to set up an appointments. I intentionally waited until I have no travel to list this as I want to be available to show it. I can be reached at 860-883-3998 or by clicking the 'contact-seller' link. The car is in Westport, CT.

UPDATE: Data plate picture is blurry so I deleted it and will upload as soon as I re-shoot it. We have snow here tomorrow (Monday) but I should be able to re-shoot Tuesday. Anytone wanting a pic just send me an email address. Here is what it says (as best as I can read it):

    1957 Desoto Adventurer Convertible Coupe

    Estimate
    $125,000 - $150,000
Lot No. 609 - To be sold on Saturday, March 5, 2011
    Chassis no. 3339216
Extremely desirable among collectors, this 1957 DeSoto Adventurer Convertible Coupe example is one of just 300 produced and in addition to its iconic Virgil Exner "Forward Look" design, it features a 345 bhp, 345 cu. in. dual-quad Hemi V-8.

It clearly benefits from long-term ownership and has recently been serviced for parade use. Having had only one owner from 1959 to the present, this Adventurer remains an excellent example of a quality, original car. THE BODY:

Anybody who knows Forward Look cars knows that rust is a major problem with them. This car is absolutely rust free and still has its original undercoating. Floor pans, body mounts, door sills, trunk flanges--they are all completely spotless. I have never seen a car of this vintage this clean. Check the pictures. The car was repainted sometime in the past ten years in dove gray with a white sweep and roof. The paint is in very good condition and the job was well done, with no major orange peel or runs. All body badges and ornaments are there. There is one minor scuff on the driver-side rear door down low that has been touched up with correct paint (car comes with small cans of both the gray and white), and a small part of the letter "S" on the hood lip DeSoto badge is missing. The chrome is in excellent shape. The stainless trim on the side has one or two door dings in it but otherwise is in excellent shape. I had the rear lower exhaust nacelles re-chromed last year. The rear bumper has a few small pits in it but is very presentable. The tail light stacks and lenses have faded slightly but none are cracked.

    THE INTERIOR:
The car has been reupholstered to look vintage in two-tone gray/white vinyl with gray carpet, but it is not the correct material. It is in very good condition however and very few people will know that it's not perfectly correct. Lap seatbelts have been added both front and rear with through-bolts through the floor. The mileage showing is 67,439. I have no idea whether this is correct, but judging from the lightly used condition of the underbody, I do not doubt it. All gauges work as well as dashboard lights and switches. The amp meter reads low though the alternator produces a steady 13.7 volts. Fuel gauge works perfectly. I recently replaced the water temperature sender and the gauge works perfectly. Oil pressure reads max on cold start, but drops to 3/4 at hot idle. I use Chevron Delo 400LE 15w-40. The original ribbon speedometer makes some noise and is slow to wake up when its cold but eventually quiets down and is reasonably accurate. I have greased the speedo cable and the speedo gearbox and adjusted the tension screw. The wipers work perfectly, the fan blower works and runs quietly, and the heat/defrost vent adjuster works as does the heat temperature slider. The original clock has been replaced by a battery operated clock and that is dead (it just needs a new battery). The original AM radio is disconnected. The previous owner installed a remotely operated AM/FM stereo/trunk CD-changer with a head unit hidden in the glove box. It works fine. The steering wheel has a couple hairline cracks in the cream bakealite section of the rim, but is otherwise in very good condition. Since the studio shoot I have removed the three chintzy Sun gauges below the temperature slider (they didn't work anyway) so the dash now looks completely stock. The trunk is lined with rubber mat which I do not believe is original, though there is some original trim underneath the rear parcel shelf. The spare tire, jack, and iron are all there along with the original DeSoto spare tire jacking instructions. The original locking gas cap is still there and the key is on the key ring. All door winders work as well as the door locks.

    THE ENGINE/TRANS:
The original 361 DeSoto engine was replaced by a previous owner with a Chrysler 383. The block stamping indicates that the engine is from 1967. It has a Weiand intake and new Holley 4-bbl carb, an Accel Super Coil and Mallory distributor. It is also fitted with aftermarket aluminum Mopar Performance rocker covers. Recent tuneup with new MSD ignition wires, plugs, and belts. The starter was rebuilt by Precision Power in Lansing, Michigan. The engine fires on the first crank and warm-idles at 750 rpm though the idle is a little thumpy, I'm guessing from the cam being changed to something a little more aggressive. The engine holds 70 mph at an even temperature on the freeway. It does burn some oil and leak a few drops from the front and rear main seal after driving. The transmission is an aluminum-case 3-speed Torqueflite operated by push-buttons on the dashboard. The previous owner had it rebuilt. It shifts easily and holds its lubricant pretty well. I recently replaced the rear differential pinion seal. It still weeps a drop or two after driving but nowhere near as bad as when I got it. The rear end is quiet and there are no clunks. The exhaust is in good shape though it does not exit through the bumpers as it's supposed to.

    THE SUSPENSION/BRAKES/TIRES:
The front suspension was rebuilt on 8-11-09 by Johnson's Alignment Service, a respected local shop that has been in the same location since these cars were new. New control arm bushings and strut rod bushings were installed, the torsion bar ride height set, the steering gear preload set, and the car aligned. Since then it has developed a slight right pull, but not too bad. The wheel bearings feel tight and are quiet. The front brakes have been converted to disc and the job is a clean installation. The brakes work perfectly as does the parking brake (important in a Forward Look car, which does not have a "Park" setting for the transmission!). The whitewall radial tires show good tread but have some scuffs on the white walls. The hubcaps are dent free.

Clear California title. Comes with original owner's manual for 1958 and reproduction shop manual. A wonderful, solid driver that is a clean example of the amazing Forward Look era. If you can find one with less rust, buy it!

Full payment is due within one week of the auction close. Shipping is not included and the responsibility of the buyer, though if the buyer is local to Los Angeles, arrangements can be made. Please contact me via the "contact seller" option if you have any questions or would like additional photos. The car is located in Torrance, California.

It has 60,349 original miles. The man that owned it died and it sat in his garage around 20 years till his wife recently sold it. It had some rust in the headlight eyebrows but I have cut them off and replaced them  with a good set and lined them up and fitted them on, they just need prepped and wielded on. The bottom of the Quarter panels have rust and I have new patch panels for them. The rockers have a few rust holes and  two small holes are around the back windshield. That's the only rust except for a few small places of surface rust. All the glass is in great shape. The seats just need redone and headliner. I have taken off the bumpers , trim, gas tank and interior. I have cleaned , prepped and under coated the engine compartment so it's ready to go. I took the engine apart and the block is in great shape , ready to rebuild.  I also have $75.00 worth of brand new trim moulding clips. So here's your chance to own a one- of- a- kind  unique ride. I really do not want to sell it but I have to pay off  a huge hospital bill, so my loss will be your gain.  This a NO reserve auction. 1958 DeSoto Firesweep wagon 9p

    November 2011-11-22
    eBay item 320799573024
    End date Nov 24, 2011

I am selling my 1958 Desoto Firesweep Wagon, it is a great looking machine, but needs a good home. It is a great wagon, as the colors are Classic Black and White and would make a great wagon for a real collector. I purchased the wagon 3 years ago just south of Calgary Alberta, and hauled it home and have been storing it since. Here is a little about the history of this type of wagon. This car has the Ram Fire 350 motor, this car is rough, with lots of rust, but is complete, most every part is here for the car, and the motor and inside are complete, but rough. These are not very common as only 1125 were produced. It is a nine passenger version, as you can see from the pictures. This is all I really know about these cars, but if you are restoring one, or want one to spend some time and money on, this would be a one of a kind car, I loved the colors, and lines, and I just could not let the combination go. The glass is complete, but will need a windshield, which is available from most glass shops. If you have questions, I have posted lots of pictures to try and give you all the information I could. Thanks for looking. Can be picked up locally or will help with paperwork and possibly delivery. The car is located in Cardston, AB Canada, and I can help with the paperwork for the USA.

    1959 Fireflite 4D Sedan, usd3950.

I am only the second owner of this car, having purchased it from an estate in Greenville SC in 2004. It was originally owned by a lady in NJ, who then moved to SC. She tried to keep it up over the years, but some of the work by her mechanics and body people was not too professional. The odometer reads 146,000 and I believe the engine and transmission have been rebuilt, and the rear axle replaced. In 2006, I rebuilt the brake system and took care of some small electrical and mechanical items to make it road worthy. It runs well and looks pretty good, so I've classed it condition 4. New owner could drive it home. The car has two interesting options, rear window defogger and Adventurer trim strips on the trunk lid. The car is complete as far as I know - no missing parts. For show purposes, the car would need substantial restoration. There are some metal and bondo patches, and the chrome needs work. The best interior feature is a perfect crash pad, seat covers are OK but not original style. $3950. Contact Barrett Taft, phone 360-720-2465, email penguin008@comcast.net.

1959 DeSoto Firedome Sportsman 2D HT

This beautiful Mopar was recently professionally photographed and WILL be appearing in an upcoming issue of Collectible Automobile Magazine. I have the photographers info and the buyer will be able to update his or her personal info for the magazine feature.
1959 DeSoto Firedome Sportsman. 2 door hardtop. Firedome sits on the longer 126 inch wheelbase and sports its original 383 B engine. Yes this is the same basic engine used in Road Runners and Chargers. Pushbutton Torqueflight automatic, Power steering, Power brakes. This car rides and drives very well and is super reliable! If you're looking for a cruiser, show car, parade car or even a daily driver, you've found your car. Never runs hot and is a beautiful, fun car to drive. It's pretty rare as only 2744 1959 Firedome 2 door hardtops were produced. The pushbutton automatic works and shifts with ease and is a pleasure to drive.
Recently serviced items include: new brakes that work perfectly, new shock absorbers, fairly new BFGoodrich Silvertown wide whitewall 8.00 x 14 tires that can't have 1000 miles on them. New correct headliner, Edelbrock 4 barrel carb and air cleaner assembly.
Also new are the following: Napa water pump (new, not a reman.), thermostat, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor, battery, professionally rebuilt starter, radiator hoses and clamps, antifreeze, custom dual exhaust with larger Dynomax super turbo mufflers. Oil and filter change, power steering hose and clamps, wiper blades, brake light switch.
This is a non-leaker and won't spot up your driveway.
I've done everything I can think of to make the car reliable and fun to drive. She's ready to drive anywhere. Fly in and drive home, she's that good!
Picture includes items found in glovebox: Original Owners Ceritificate, two different owners brochures, warranty certificate for tires purchased in 1973 with 24,921 on odometer, and some other service papers.
The paint is slick and grabs peoples attention but up close there are a couple of issues. Minor chips and scratches that have been touched up. That's what happens if you drive them. There's a couple of spots where the paints bubbling and has a thin crack but nothing major. The front bumper is near perfect, rear is very good with two small dings that you have to look hard to spot. The side trim has some small dings but I've located ding free replacement pieces that are included with the car. Floors and trunk are solid.
I've started calling it "That car". Everywhere you drive people say, " look at that car!" "that car is so cool!" "what kind of car is that?" ...you get the idea. Quite the attention getter.
Don't hesitate to ask any questions. $500 non-refundable deposit thru paypal at auction end. Car to be picked up and paid for in cash within 7 days of auction end.
And most important: If you don't have cash money, Don't Bid!!! I'm not a bank, just a hobbyist and lover of all things Mopar.

Rare hard to find 2 door hard top in good shape for its age.  It does need a complete restortation.  It is a big block 383 torque flight transmission push button. Suprisingly the floors are still in this car and only need patch work done in the front.  It also needs the lower quarters and rocker panels.  The frame is nice and solid under the car.  This is a 58 & 1/2 listed on the title.  Looks like the 59.  Not many of these around.  Please serious inquiries only.
If you have questions feel free to call me at
    540-556-5349.
Please do not email as I cannot return emails in a timely manner.  The car is sold as is. I would trade for a 1964 Fury or might consider other trades. -Joe

    HISTORY OF THE DESOTO ADVENTURER:

As an automotive swan song, it is hard to imagine anything more impressive than the 1960 DeSoto Adventurer.

It was built in an era when designers had free rein to explore the limits of what their draft pencils and fertile imaginations could conceive, unrestricted by the restraints of corporate average fuel economy.
In today’s world of plastic coated compacts, it is easy to forget just how big the full-size cars of 50 years ago actually were.

Weighing in at just under 2-tons, there was nothing subtle about this graceful, four-door hardtop, with 18 feet of sculpted sheet metal flowing liquid like from the leading edge of a massive chrome grill to the tips of the twin tail fins.

This 1960 DeSoto Adventurer four door Hardtop was priced at $3,727.00. The highest priced DeSoto for 1960. The Fireflite Four Door Sedan was the lowest at $3,017.00. Engine performance was down on the 1960 DeSoto's but the Fins were still flying high

1961 DeSoto - original, unrestored car. Tahiti Tan and Bahama Bronze two-tone original paint. This car is in near showroom condition with 56,000 original miles. Produced November 13, 1960; serial #3300. This could be the last surviving original unrestored DeSoto as they closed the plant before Thanksgiving of that same year. Runs and drives great! I purchased the car 19 years ago from the original owner in Utah. The car was last registered in Utah in 1983 and shortly thereafter was brought to Massachusetts. It has been stored in a heated garage ever since then. SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY !!!! For more information, please call 781-771-5837. I do not have time to respond to a bunch of tire-kickers and picture collectors by e-mail, but I will be happy to discuss the car with serious buyers over the phone. Pictures available by phone request only.

    DeSoto 1961 2d.
eBay 180656245543, Chelsea, Massachusetts, United States.
    Ended: Apr 26, 2011

    Re-listed as 180662586294. May 10, 20111.

Extremely rare car only 911 of these were made to the best of my knowledge all glass is intact and ok the windshield has a rock chip but no cracks needs frt floors and trunk pan has damage to both rear quarters dash has seen better days i think it has the 361 v8 no gas tank all side chrome is missing but side upper roof trim is there front bumper and grill headlights and hood are all good both doors are good trunk is not really great originally a texas car has texas title definitely restorable i also have a mint four door with all parts to restore this car i checked a few forums and they say the two door is more desirable and worth much more than the four door i will sell both together for the right offer my name is Ray my number is 617 903 2194 call with any questions i can also take any pics requested by live bidders.

From reliable sources, this car may be the youngest known DeSoto. Chrysler Historical has verified that it is the 7th to last car built on the last day of production, and I think the club has even verified that it's the highest serial number of the known surviving cars built for '61

    Somebody ought to save it!.

    1961 DeSoto 4D HT

    1961 Desoto 4d HT

Selling a 1961 Desoto for parts only, will come with a bill of sale, no title, I had to list as salvage title but there will only be a bill of sale. Car is mostly complete, but rough, lots of rust in floors, trunk lid and hood, and lower quarters. Only things I see missing is the top half of the grille, the alternater and the strp of stainless over the windsield, all other trim that is not on the car is on the back seat. Car has been sitting in an open barn since 1981. The 361 motor turns by hand, I just purchased this car to keep it from the crusher and have not had time yet to try and start it.Car rolls freely and is easy to load. The right front door would not close, so I had to remove the upper hinge [bent] to close the door. The front fenders have rust in lower portion, other than that, the rusty hood and missing grille section, the front clip is very usable. Remember, this is the last year for the Desoto and are very rare, there are still lots of good parts left, dash, drive line, all glass is good except windshield has bubbles around edges, and trim, tail light lenses are good, good bumpers and lots of hard to find what nots. I could part it out in pieces, but would rather sell as a whole. Buyer must pay immediate non refundable down payment of $250 through paypal, ballance by bank check or cash in person within 7 days of sale date. buyer responsible for shipping and shipping cost. Car will not be released until full payment has cleared, car must be removed within 60 days of purchase. Shipping is available at $1.50 per loaded mile to anywhere in the continental U.S. For delivery under 100 miles, there will also be a $50 loading fee, for distance's over 1000 miles, a lower rate may be negotiated, depending. Further qustions can be answered through ask seller link or beter, call me at 423-773-4825 between 10am and 10pm EST.....Car is located in East Tennessee, close to I-81 at exit 23, that is about half way between Knoxville and Britol, Tn.
