The straight-8 was an eight-cylinder, inline automobile engine that was used in production Pontiacs from 1933 to 1954. Introduced in the fall of 1932 for the 1933 models, it was Pontiac's most powerful engine at the time and was the least expensive eight-cylinder engine built by an
American automotive manufacturer.

Ford introduced a new I 6 engine in 1960, it started as a 144 CI engine and quickly grew into the 144/170/200 family of engines. The 144 ran from 1960-64, The 170 ran from 1961 to 1972. the 200 ran from 1964 through 1975. While it is commonly referred to as the ?Falcon or Mustang? 6 this engine was used in Falcons, Mustangs, Fairmonts, Zephyrs, Granadas, Monarchs, Mavericks, Comets and the Mustang based Capri II.
