On Thursday, May 28, over 500 veterans gathered at the Yankee Air Museum to have their picture taken in front of our B-17. Keith Famie is filming a documentary about Detroit;s contribution to WW2. Col. Richard Cole is honored. Col Cole was Jimmy Doolittle's co-pilot in the lead plane during the first raid against Japan, flown from the deck of the carrier HORNET in April, 1942.

The B-25 made a fly-by when the Indy Racing League came to race at Belle Isle on August 31. Chris Curran contributes a few pictures of the trip over Downtown Detroit on the way there. Yankee Air Museum's annual benefit golf outing, The Golf War, is staged by Dave Steiner. Thanks to Dave and to his many sponsors for this event.

This year the C-47 offered a "FLEX" ride for members only. The excursion generally followed the normal route up the Detroit River to Downtown Detroit. Photos by Russ Banush.

Now that flying season is coming to a close, it's time to thank Norm Ellickson and the crew chiefs, mechanics, booking people, and pilots who have made this another successful and safe season. The National Air Tour, a recreation of the Ford Reliability tours of the 20s and 30s, started and ended at Willow Run Airport, hosted by the Yankee Air Museum.

Robert Prior, Crew Chief of the B-17G "Fuddy Duddy" has provided his photographs taken at THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN 2005. Also in this album are shots taken from his ride on our B-25 YANKEE WARRIOR.

These photos were requested by the Michigan Aerospace Foundation for promotional use. You'll find pictures of the old hangar, some of our awards, some of the crews at work, and photos pf the museum. A few photographs were selected to be included in the promotional material the MAF uses today.

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport is the companion facility to the Museum on the National Mall. The building opened in December, 2003, and provides enough space for the Smithsonian to display the thousands of aviation and space artifacts that cannot be exhibited on the National Mall.
