My cousin Jason visited for a few days, and we hiked up Mt. Washington. 5 miles and 4600 vertical feet later, we arrived cold, wet, and in a cloud to the top of the mountain, at 6288 ft. from sea level. Our original intent was to camp on the top of the mountain, so we deviated from that and decided to try to camp somewhere on the mountain on the way down. Unfortunately, the entire mountain is steep, so there is no good place to pitch a tent, requiring us to walk all the way back to the trail head. More than 9 miles total, and 4600 vertical ft. gained and lost over the day, while carrying roughly 50 pounds of gear between the two of us. Grueling.

We surprised Mima with a Cuban-themed birthday party, complete with tons of authentic Cubans (e.g. my relatives). She turned 80 on Thursday, but had been lying about her age for decades before that; until a few weeks prior to the party we all believed she was to turn 79 this year!

Jeannette really wanted to go out in Stamford, of all places, and no one wanted to drive, so my dad rented a party bus that picked us up at home, drove us to the bars, and then drove us back at the end of the night. Good times.
