Beginning stages 2008 - Mar 4, 2009

I started my loc journey in August 2008. I've been natural since July 06. I was tired of that creamy crack in my hair, so I decided to just deal with my natural hair. I' m so happy that, I made the choice to go natural. I feel like a brand new person. I feel rejuvenated. After looking over all my beautiful sisters albums. I decided to create a fotki for myself. Please feel free to give me any advice and post a lot of wonderful comments hehe!!!! Transitioning from a texturizer to natural hair, it has been 14 months since the last time she had any harsh chemicals in her hair. I made a huge mistake in placing a texturizer in her hair. I wish I had more knowledge of taking care of natural hair back then, I would've never placed a texturizer in her hair if i knew back then what i know now. The products I use on her hair are:Aloe Vera Juice ,Extra Dark Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Coconut Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, , Healthy Hair Butter by Carols Daughter, Shea Moisture Line: Retention Shampoo, Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner and the Deep Masque Treatment. How I maintain my daughter's hair, Every two weeks I alternate between using a shampoo or a conditioner. I do alot of hot oil treatments once a week or before I shampoo her hair and,.I moisturize her hair daily mixing the JBCO and Coconut Oil. I try to maintain her hair with protective styles every 2 weeks or if it looks frizzy once a week, after I am done plating her hair at night she uses a satin bonet to sleep in to help retain moisture, Or at times I will spritz her hair with aloe vera juice. My Goal is to have my daughter maintain a healthy head of hair, and also for the length of her hair to reach to its maximum potential. So over the course of her journey I will be putting up pics of my daughters hair journey, so you can post comments or any suggestions on how I can maintain my daughters hair so it can grow to its potential. Don't hesitate to give me any advice as well ok, So God Bless and Be safe!! I bought some new oils that I will be trying on my daughters hair, Hempseed oil, Grapeseed oil, Sweet Almond oil, Coconut Oil and my favorite Jamaican Black Castor oil. More pics are coming soon, I will try to do some comparison pics in the future. I will be doing acv rinses on my daughter's hair, I've noticed that she has alot of product build up in her hair, I didn't realize i was putting too much protein in her hair, The shea moisture products i bought for her all contain protein. Thanks to shlinda1 on youtube who provided this wonderful info!! - Album was created 10 months ago and modified 4 months ago
