That's Thresher as in farm implement (pre-combine). It is another Long & Kees building. It is actually two building one 6 stories, the other 7 (look really closely).
This building has unfortunatly been demolished. In the summer of 2003 the limestone rear wall collapsed and the very small parish had no money and their insurnace company bailed. It was a preservation battle but in the winter of 2003 it came down. They plan to build something on the site, but I will always give it dirty looks because I know what had been there. so sad....
This was once the Minneapolis YMCA. The upper floors had rooms for rent if you were down on your luck. The Y moved to a new building next door in the early 90s.
The architect was Hewitt and Brown. There is no retail space in the tower. It is very closed-in and forbiding, especially since 9/11. Lots of interesting details though.
This is Dayton's (see above sign) It is now stupidly called Marshall Field's. It is owned by Target Corp. which is headquartered a few blocks down. This was an addition added on in the 1930 to the original 1904 building at 7th and Nicollet.
I was suprised to see my home of 19 years on your site. This shot, at this angle, is an extremely nice one.....However, my view of the city and suburbs from the 30th floor is nothing short of spectacular.
(MrMN's reply: Seems a lot of these older buildings are being adopted for these types of uses. Yeesh...
Thanks for informing me of this. I didn't know what it was and I couldn't find any documentation at the time of the photo.)

(MrMN's reply: Go to http://www.hennepintheatredistrict.com/eventdescription.asp?theshow=RADIOCITY02 for more on the RC Rockettes in December. You can also obtain tickets, I believe, through the links on www.hennepintheatredistrict.com as well.
It would've been better if you E-mailed me this instead of turning it into a photo comment.)
