    Documentation

This 1989 Special Service Package Mustang was originally purchased and owned by the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP). It is a 1 of 20 purchased by the MSP in 1989, the only year they bought SSP's. Exterior color is Dark Shadow Blue Metallic and includes a factory light blue pin stripe. The interior color is Regatta Blue.

This SSP was in-service with the MSP from 1989 to April 1993. is a real survivor and is the last Mustang to be in-service with the Minnesota State Patrol. Its' original license plate number was 828-CNF, which expired 3/31/90. Its' second license plate number was 763-HJV.

During its' life with the MSP, this vehicle was originally assigned to Trooper Suzanne Hackett (out of Hastings 2410), who retired at the rank of Lieutenant. The second and last assignment was to Captain Don Kunelius who was Fleet Administrator. Don then transferred to the Commercial Vehicle section. He continued to drive the Mustang for awhile until the new Fleet Administrator said it was time for it to go. It then went off to auction at Fort Snelling in April 1993 with 88,000 miles on the odometer.

In May, 2010 I became the fourth civilian owner of this 104,000 mile SSP Mustang when I purchased it from Jody Krause of Wisconsin. This vehicle was purchased with the intent to restore it back to an MSP SSP Mustang in-service condition. that process was completed in July 2011. On March 3, 2011 I sold it to SSP enthusiast Bob Rose and is heading back home to Minnesota. This sale was done to accomodate the acquisition of my 1993 Michigan State Police SSP Mustang.

Growning up in Missouri, during infrequent weekend trips home to St. Louis from college, the MSHP Mustangs were a frequent sight on I-70 and the rural highways of Boone and Howard County. I have always believed these were the coolest cars on the roads. It is an honor to help preserve this piece of history.
