Aurora & QE2 both berthed at the Mayflower Terminal, Southampton, bow on, at 106 & 105 respectively. The photos were taken between 07:00 & 07:30 BST, initially in the murky mist but lightening a bit as we got closer. The final funnel views of Aurora were at 09:30 as we drove by the Mayflower Terminal. What a difference a couple of hours make. QE2 was in the middle of her wet dock 19 - 27 April 2008

She appeared out the mist south of Hythe Pier just prior to 11:00 & was alongside in under 15 mins. Svitzer Sarah assisted.

QE2 under wet dock in Southampton 19 - 26 April 2008, had her funnel painted on the morning we arrived aboard Oceana. Nothing looked amiss early morning when we berthed, but on looking closely one can see the planks in position. Later on, 08:30, while walking the prom we espied QE2 in the distance wearing what looked like curlers! Once fully in view she was having her funnel painted surrounded by 'astronauts' on wooden plants slowly descending. An hour later once disembarked we drove up to Mayflower Terminal for a closer look and it was nearly all over.

She had arrived at Southampton 18 April 2008 after her transatlantic from New York, the final leg of her last ever World Cruise [for Cunard]. After disembarking all passengers her 8/9 day wet dock began [next sailing 27 April] & later in the evening she moved to 105. Note the scaffolding being erected on her stern decks for a tarpaulin to keep the rain off while some decking is replaced, & the poor state of her waterline after the WC [only part of which was repainted during the wet dock].
