Games Deck, Pavilion Pool & Sputnik, QUEEN ELIZABETH - Jan 2012
The Games Deck forward on Deck 11 is sheltered by glass screens from the wind and an awning above. Makes things pretty awkward for taking photographs. Only a small portion of the bow is visible fwd as the bridge roof is in the way. The mast is obscured by the awning. However, one can enjoy Paddle Tennis, Croquet and Bowls [Short Mat] on synthetic grass amongst plastic foliage. There are some lovely ceramic tiled pictures from the Morandi Studio around the mast by Norman Wilkinson, Henry George Gawthorn & others along with 'Golden Age of Cruising' images from Maurizio Eliseo [These are also prominent fwd of the Pavilion Pool]. Stairs to fwd port lead down to the Commodore Club. Set in a box welded to the mast are the three Lucky Coins - a 1938 half crown (the year the first Queen Elizabeth was launched); a 1967 sovereign (the year QE2 was launched) and a 2010 sovereign for the new Queen Elizabeth's float out 5 Jan 2010. Above the Yacht Club is 'Sputnik' - the Giant Chess Set. The Pavilion Pool area is below on Deck 9 between the Royal Spa and Garden Lounge. 2 Jacuzzis, which some people did use, but it was too rough for the pool and it was eventually emptied. Two Table Tennis Tables are located near the Royal Spa/Beauty Salon entrance, fwd port, along with a route map of QE's current voyage. There is a thalassotherapy pool next to here through the windows pictures, but I did not go in there, looked busy - January 2012 See short movie clip of some of the seas [F9 & F10] with the pool sloshing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4W4n8pjZlkw
