Blanding's Turtle and Snapping Turtle

Mom and I went for a drive on Sunday evening and found a Blanding's Turtle in the middle of Bolton Road. I picked it up and released it into the Branch Creek which crosses Kyle Road (Bolton becomes Kyle) after having been peed on a number of times by the turtle.

Less than a minute later, I found this lovely little Snapping Turtle. He/she (I am awaiting an expert's word on the sex) was smallish but still fast and vicious. So, I flipped it on its back and pushed it across the road into a field on the side of the road it was headed to (then I flipped it right-side-up, again).

You can report sightings of Snapping Turtles, which are endangered here in Ontario, to the Min. of Natural Resources. http://nhic.mnr.gov.on.ca/MNR/nhic/species/species_report.cfm
