We had a two hour journey to our special walk, stopping at Blairgowrie for coffee and scones at the Angus Hotel.
Our walk started on a good path and went up to Loch Shandra then on over moorland towards Auchintable Loch from which point we headed back on a rather muddy path to Loch Shandra and our waiting coach.
We had a great mixture of weather, starting off in bright sunshine and warmth, but around lunchtime we hit some very heavy rain. We eventually had sunny weather once more and were able to remove the wet gear, only to have more bad weather, this time with thunder and lightning as we negotiated a narrow path which was very muddy at times.
We had a good walk nevertheless, and it was worth the long journey. We did have a problem with some cattle, as although we had taken a wide route around them, they eventually ran over to the last walkers and caused a bit of a stir. Not sure what made them panic, but I was grateful to the men who shepherded the group up to the gate and stood their ground before the cows, to allow the walkers to get through.
We finished our day back at the Angus Hotel for a nice meal, before heading home.
