Chenonceau

Known as the women's castle, Chenonceau used to be the home of Diana de Poitiers (mistress of Henry II), Catherine de' Medici (wife of Henry II), Louise de Lorraine (wife of Henry III), Gabrielle d'Estrées (favourite of Henry IV), among others. It was built in the early XVI c. on the site of an earlier castle, of which only the XV c. donjon and well remain.
