You are right there Viviane, it's always good to read somebody elses opinion about something one sees as a problem. Often we create our problems by rigit thinking and may be even casting the first stone.

Christel I think you have a point here but...I have always seen the pics of my friends in advance...so it won't work! Friends often ask each others opinion and will recognize the pics anyway!
Isn't this all a bit childish...we are all adults and if they won't vote fairly it is OK with me!
People who want to cheat will always find a way to do so...I pity them!

Have you ever seen one taking a bath? That looks sooo comical. I watched a couple at Wellington Zoo last year, took some shots as well. Have a look if you are interested. Should be in the 2005 folder somewhere.

    While I'm here:
Peter, I have sugested to fotki not to publish the contestants name in future contests to be able to vote unbiastly. I think unbiast votes are the fairest. What do you think? Would really appreciate your view on that one.

    Take care
    Christel

    Hi Christel,

This is a big subject and everyone has an opinion on it. Fotki has to try and keep everyone happy - no easy task. There have been many complaints about the order of entries and suggestions that entries are somehow randomly rearranged throughout the contest, but if someone is voting on the pic while it is being shuffled, I think it muck up the integrity of the votes.

It is also fun to look back to your own and your friends photos. If the positions were changed dynamically you'd never be able to find them again without browsing through every photo, and this would remove for me anyway, one of the most enjoyable parts of the contests.

While it is a definite advantage to be on the first page, many contests are won by entries on pages near the end. This shows that members do vote on merit, and the best or a very good photo often does win.

Some people vote higher scores for their friends but many don't. Some vote weirdly because of some mistaken idea about the contests, or because they have some private axe to grind. I can't believe that people get so upset over what is surely a fun contest and not to be taken too seriously.

Most people I know try their hardest to vote on merit. My attitude is just to enjoy the contests as they at the moment and if they change them I'll enjoy them then as well.

    Hope this helps.
