Echidnas are very tough but not real bright. They get run over by cars & trucks all the time. I rescued this fellow from a highway out West and brought him home to patch him up. The next day he'd recovered so well he was trying to climb out of his box all the time. By the next day he was well enough to be released into his new home, the Nature Park on Mt Panorama, spiritual home of the V8 Supercar!

Australia is the driest continent on planet earth, with drought a constant companion. We are currently in the grip of the worst drought in our history.

Sorry about the bodgy quality, I saw these characters racing down the highway comign home from work today, half on one side of the fence and half on the other. I shot through the car window while I was driving (don't tell anyone) so found it hard to focus.
