Mount Panorama will host the second annual WPS Bathurst International Motor Festival (BIMF) from 06-08 April 2007.
Gaining inspiration from the world famous Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK, the inaugural 2006 WPS Bathurst International Motor Festival (BIMF) was conceived to showcase contemporary race cars alongside historical cars, and drivers of yesteryear, experiential activities and displays in a Festival environment.
An Event like this has never been staged before in Australia and as such offered something unique to fans. Easter at Bathurst however, was held annually from 1938 to 1973 and was the birthplace of production car racing in Australia. the inaugural 2006 WPS Bathurst International Motor Festival (BIMF) was conceived to showcase contemporary race cars alongside historical cars, and drivers of yesteryear, experiential activities and displays in a Festival environment.

-
The Commodore Cup is an exciting Australian motor racing category which provides close, fast racing and commands a large following. The Technical Regulations are based on a standard Holden Commodore VB to VH 4.2 litre V8 manual sedan, or a VR-VS manual sedan which is then subject to an extensive list of modifications. The basis of the regulations is that if a particular modification is not listed, then it is not permitted. The NATRAD sponsored Lamborghini Gallardo of Bryce Washington has dominated round 3 of the 2007 Australian GT Championship at Bathurst this weekend (Friday April 6 – Saturday April 7).
Adelaide based Washington took pole position for the 2 race round of the Championship in yesterday’s qualifying session and then won both of today’s races despite receiving performance penalties prior to both starts, giving the Gallardo a world wide first ever win. based Washington took pole position for the 2 race round of the Championship in yesterday’s qualifying session and then won both of today’s races despite receiving performance penalties prior to both starts, giving the Gallardo a world wide first ever win.

-
-
The Aussie Racing Car combines current racing technology and performance in a one-design class where all cars are mechanically identical with strict rules in place to maintain that position. 4 different body styles cater to the liking of all tastes. Classic Ford and Holden body style for the nostalgia buffs and Falcon and Commodore body styles which replicate the V8 Supercars…. and all in approximately half size The drivers skill level is the determining factor for winning contention in Aussie Racing competition.
Cars are constructed on a purpose built steel tubular space frame chassis with integral roll cage construction designed and approved to stringent engineering specifications. The lightweight composite body is a faithfully designed caricature of its full size counterpart featuring opening doors, boot and lift off front section. Powered by a 1.2 litre 125 BHP twin cam 16 valve engine that revs to 11500 RPM. the performance is exhilarating. The 450 kg all up weight provides an incredible power to weight ratio that allows the little machine to rocket to a speed of well in excess of 200KPH The Lap times achieved are staggering, at Oran Park for example the cars lap within 6 seconds of a V8 Supercar.
They feature fully adjustable suspension geometry, huge brakes and controlled competition tyres that produce extremely high grip levels. The drivers experience behind the wheel is akin to the thrill and excitement normally only experienced by V8 Supercar or Formula Car racing drivers. All cars are hand built in the Aussie Racing Car facility and supplied ready to race.
The cockpit layout is purpose built and functional. The racing seat and five point racing harness holds the driver firmly and comfortably in place as the incredible cornering g-forces rocket the car off the corners. The steering is light, fast and precise with only one turn lock to lock and requiring minimal steering movement during racing. The sequential gear lever falls easily to hand up close to the steering wheel and the carbon fibre dash displays the necessary instrumentation. The chassis design incorporates simplicity in suspension adjustment to cater for all drivers likings including castor/camber, sway bar, roll centre and ride height etc. brakes have simple front to rear bias adjustment.

Engine 1.2 litre twin-cam 4 Valves per cylinder 125bhp, 11500rpm Gearbox Integral 5-speed dog engagement Sequential gear change Chassis Tubular space-frame and cockpit with integral driver roll-cage Momo race seat with 5 point harness Momo quick-release steering wheel Suspension Front – Coil over shocks fully adjustable rose jointed wishbones Ultra fast rack and pinion Rear – Live axle, optional long and short track ratios Coil over shocks, parallel trailing arms, panhard rod Brakes 4 wheel disc with - Full bias adjustment with balance bar, braided lines Wheels and Tyres 13 x 5.5 various styles available Yokahama A032R treaded race spec tyres Body Styles Classic Holden Classic Ford Falcon Commodore Dimensions Length: 3.0m Width: 1.35m Height: 1.05m Weight: 450kg different body styles cater to the liking of all tastes.
