The central western New South Wales town of Molong had its worst flood since 1956.
The main street of Molong went under water and the cleaning up process is currently under way, with trucks hosing down shops.
About 16 shops have been flooded, including the town's supermarket, chemist and other businesses in town, as well as many homes.
The Molong creek rose very rapidly from about midnight when between 70 and 100 millimetres of rain fell in the surrounding hills along with very severe thunderstorms.
