    Its amazing how the attention to detail drifts from the late 1890's to the late 1970's. By 1970's, its all mass produced designs. I saw a caboose built in the earlier 20's and it was more ornate. You see the same in housing and architecture. The minimalist approach really made things plain. :)

    Really love these - we saw them some years ago on the west coast of Canada, in just about every place we stopped.....

    There is an outside chance you might have seen this one, if you were in any area served by Canadian National RR. This caboose was originally built for them.

    The paint looks good, but I guess it's been repainted for the museum?

    We did a repaint job last fall. This is a fairly new caboose. It was built in 1971 for the Canadian National Railroad.
